10 Random things that pissed me off today

1. People who argue on the internet, just because they can.

2. Bloggers who never ever reply to their comments, especially when they’ve written something controversial.

3. Looking out the window at a downpour when the “Weather Network” says it’s sunny outside. Don’t you people have a window of your own?!?

4. Over-sensitive people who love going out to socialize but who feel offended when strangers look at them.

5. Dog poo on the sidewalk.

6. My weeds. Not only are they choking my grass, but they keep growing, damnit!

7. My Sims Agents.

8. The pull of Camp Nano. It’s calling me, enticing me like a long lost lover…

9. Bacterial infections that live in hospitals – how do you weigh the risk vs. the benefit of going there?

10. When email doesn’t work! Please let me know if you requested my story the other day and didn’t get it – you should have.

What pissed you off today? And what made you smile? I could use one of those. πŸ˜‰

  1. Oh, you’re so right about number 2, that REALLY pisses me off.

  2. Good list! I was happy to wake today and find that my book promo was paying off. It’s a grueling business and both time-consuming and costly to venture into new advertising sites, wondering if they are worth the money. πŸ™‚

  3. I agree with most of your list. However, it wouldn’t piss me off. Annoy me slightly maybe, but not piss me off. I hope your day today is better Linda. πŸ™‚

  4. Great list. I’ll add what’s making me smile today: I have plans to see close friends tonight for dinner, and we haven’t gotten to meet up all together in a few weeks what with our different schedules. So, I’m looking forward to that!

  9. Hello Linda. You are spot on with your list. Do you think you will do Camp Nano? I wanted to say hello again because I have been absent for a time. You were also kind enough to follow one of my blogs, which I moved to a new domain – http://clearlywriting.com/

I am back in business, so to speak. The module for the professional writing course I am taking is all about social media and building an online presence. Which is great because I have not had time to focus.

    Be well. Happy Friday.

    • Hi again, Amanda! I’ve missed you! I did sign up for Camp Nano last night. Are you doing it? Not sure if it’s as easy to hook up with fellow Nano’ers as it is in November, but if you can look me up, my user name is “Schvell.”
Your course does sound great. I’m going to need one of those I think.
Happy Friday to you too! πŸ™‚

  10. What pissed me off today (and most workdays) is how I keep waking up at 5am, a good two hours before my alarm goes off. I love my sleep, dammit lol

    Like

    • Ha! Yeah, I’m forever forgetting to turn off my 5:25am alarm when the kids don’t have school. Frustrating!
The sun’s bright at that time in the morning though, isn’t it? No wonder you wake up!

  11. What pissed me off today?
    Hmm…
Realizing too late that today was Thursday and not Wednesday.
Somewhere ov’r the Rainbow, I lost a day out of my life.

  12. Sorry you have this list today 😦 as for me…today I have to say it would be men who live in some universe wherein it is somehow acceptable to pee all over the seat and floor of an aircraft lav…really? What goes through their heads? What made me smile is someone playing an RC airplane game on a tablet while riding in an airplane πŸ™‚

    Like

    • Bumpy ride maybe? But yeah, being the only female in the house (I don’t even have female fish anymore to keep me company) I could write a book on floor pee.
But the game – that’s a lot of planes! Haha. πŸ™‚

      Like

      • Bumpy ride is no excuse! If you miss, at least make some effort to clean up. And how can they miss so badly that the whole side wall is covered? Or that there is a puddle in the corner opposite the…uh….actual receptacle? In my line of work I use a lot of aircraft lavs, sadly 😦 I have a “ritual” to make this practice more “acceptable” to my sense of good hygeine.
About the game…yeah, I thought it was rather ironic πŸ™‚ I hope he didn’t crash!

        Like

        • Where boys get their pee is a never ending conundrum. I’ll leave it at that. πŸ˜› But yeah, they CAN clean it up.

Oooh, crashing. I didn’t think of that! Well you’re still around, so whatever he did, it didn’t affect the big picture (or the big aircraft πŸ˜› )

  14. My mother’s inability to answer the question, “What would you like to eat while you’re here?” pissed me off.

  17. pissed me off: papers jamming in the scanner at work; a bill in the mail (though that was to be expected given it’s almost the end of the month); finding out one of the websites I frequently post on is closing. made me smile: your story that I beta read :); realizing that tomorrow is Friday and payday; a nice, sunny (albeit hot) day

  18. I caught pneumonia in the hospital and set my recovery back two weeks. Worse, they couldn’t figure out how to cure me until a specialist came in and told them it was pneumonia.

Thing that pissed me off today? Changing my password on Pocket and still not being able to sign on. Thing that made me happy? Spending the afternoon with my honey.

    Like

    • Ouch on the pneumonia. I’ve had it twice in recent years, and both times I was sent home after being told I was okay only to be called a day or two later to find out that someone else read the xray and discovered what it really was. Frustrating!
Sorry about your lost password… There’s frustration for you! But happy you had a nice afternoon! Thanks for the smile, John! πŸ™‚

  20. Number 9 annoys me no end. The hospital I sometimes go to was voted the dirtiest hospital in Ireland three times in a row by the inspectors that visited there. And there answer to this was to reduce their accident and emergency staff by exactly 50%. And they wonder why I stay away from the place. It’s just plain old fashioned cleanliness. It’s not some new fangled invention that they are trying to come to term with. No wonder super bugs like MRSA are rampant in Irish hospitals.

  21. Hmm what pissed me off today, not enough staff for those hospitals that carry the germs ( I work in one) , people not doing their job, unappreciated employees! Lol can you tell I worked all day, what made me smile.. my three children running to hug me as I came in the door πŸ™‚

    • Understaffed hospitals seem to be everywhere these days. And the wait times certainly get taken out on the front line workers – who are the ones who are overworked. It’s a sad state of affairs indeed.
Glad it was all made better by your kids! πŸ™‚ Thanks for the comment, April!

  22. 1, 2, 4, and 5 piss me off all the time (although I may occasionally be guilty, myself, of 1 and 2). It never rains in San Francisco…seriously, we are in the middle of an extended drought, so forget #3. Number 6? No, no lawn and thus, no weeds. But even if I did have a lawn, the drought would have killed the grass anyway, and maybe even the weeds. 7 and 8 – I don’t know what those are, but it pisses me off that I don’t know what those are. And when it comes to hospitals (#9), I avoid those like the plague because I’m afraid if I went to one, I’d catch the plague. And email? If it doesn’t work and I don’t get any emails, how do I know that it’s not working or that I just didn’t get any emails? It’s like the forest falling in the woods and there’s no one around to hear it. Or something like that.

What made me smile today? You post. Thanks.

  24. A few things, but I’m not allowed to mention most of them out loud. We’ll say certain people opted to work every nerve I have today. As for the meteorologist thing, I think they keep those people in a basement and only let them out at night. This way they can claim plausible deniability.

Why couldn’t she have told me at the first store. What made me smile: watching my middle son getting ready for his first unofficial soccer game.
