I love it when a fortune cookie actually tells my fortune.
I did have an opportunity to edit this weekend, since the kids were with their dad. Now to play the lottery with those numbers… or did I miss it? I’ll check Saturday’s draw and see.
In other news, I went to the doctor about my shoulder and my eyes on Friday. She’s sending me for another ultrasound for the shoulder and I’m on Advil three times a day to see if it helps. Apparently if we can figure out whether it’s bone or soft tissue that’s causing the problem, she’ll know how to treat it.
My eyes on the other hand, she had no answer for. My bloodwork showed that I’m perfect – I already knew that though (haha) – so the good news is it’s not diabetes. Anyway, she said she’ll talk to an optometrist colleague this weekend and get back to me next week if they come up with any ideas. I thought of something that I neglected to mention to her since. I’ve been watching my diet, screen time, and all kinds of things to see if there was a common denominator to when I have problems, but the one thing I hadn’t watched was what I was drinking. I wonder if I get dehydrated, particularly when all I drink in a day is coffee and wine. I’ll mention that if she doesn’t come up with anything better.
Or maybe what I really need is more Chinese food to get my answer.

I know what it’s like to not know, it took me almost 20 year of me going to doctors to finally get my diagnosis. I hope you only have to wait a few days at most. And drinking more water is always a good idea.

Good luck! Hope the doctors can figure it out. Yes, you should drink more water. For the last few years, I cut back to where I mainly drink water. Occasionally I’ll have a cola, or tea, and only drink like one cup of coffee a day.

I go through cycles where I’ll drink a lot of water and then I don’t. I need to keep it up.
Thanks, Jeanne. 🙂

Right before I graduated high school, I got a fortune cookie that told me I was going on a long vacation. Right after graduating I spent about a year and a half (closer to two years, but I always refer to it as “The Year of Sleep”) where I had to work with a sleep disorder in order to be awake for more than 4-6 hours a day.
I hope that y’all are able to find out what’s messing with your health! There’s nothing worse than not knowing.

Thanks Colleen. I know drinking a glass of water will usually clear up an oncoming headache, so why not the eyes?

Take care Linda and make sure you find out if something is wrong. It’s so much better to catch it on time, rather than later. Hugs

Drink at least a liter of water every day, Linda. It’s good for the system. I swear by good old, H20. And I go with tap water. I don’t need the pricey bottled brands.

I have absolutely no reason to buy spring water – I have a spring running through my basement – cool, clear, everflowing drinking water. Yum!
In other words, I have no excuse for being dehydrated. 😛

Did you tell the doctor about the carrots? I have found that as i grow older my eyesight seems to vary from day to day – I have no clue why and that seems a rather odd statement, i know. I have bifocals and sometimes find i see better without them – sometimes better with them. I went to the opthamologist and he said my prescription was the same – it had not changed – and charged me $80. I’ve tried to correlate it with some physical criteria – like diet or sleep or such – but have failed. I have a pile of other medical things going on and it is possible that they affect my sight – escpecially the dialysis.
The fortune cookie may be just as good an indicator. Ha!
I enjoyed the post Linda – thanks! And good health to you.

After a glass of wine tonight with my dinner, I came online and noticed myself squinting to see the screen. I got up and drank a big glass of water and now I seem to be fine… I’m taking lutein, which is what is in carrots, and I told the doctor about that…
Best of luck with your health as well, Paul. Cheers with a fortune cookie and a glass of water! 😀

Isn’t it just amazing that with all the technology we have and all the advances we’ve made in medicine it still takes so much just to figure out the root of the problem? I’m so sorry you have to deal with so much, but I’m glad you have a doc that is taking the time to be sure she is treating the right thing. Chinese fortune? Good things come to those who wait….(but I sure hope you don’t have to wait too much longer)!

Haha! Yeah, me too. That’s a bittersweet fortune for sure.
Thanks so much for your kind comment. I am lucky to have a doctor who cares enough to not just dismiss me because she can’t figure it out in one visit. So many of them do.
