How could I possibly go a day without having something new to love WordPress for? Today I have (that I’ve found so far) four posts missing from my page. They’re still accessible from the links made to them and I can still find them internally. On top of that, I can’t see my sidebar from my computer when I look at my home page, though my lovely friend Belinda says she can see it from hers.
Here are the missing posts:
https://lindaghill.com/2014/11/12/one-liner-wednesday-grissom/
https://lindaghill.com/2014/11/11/clever-mathematics/
https://lindaghill.com/2014/11/11/wordpress-view-stats-all-over-the-place/
https://lindaghill.com/2014/11/11/the-nano-poblano-oddly-specific-gratitude-blog-hop/
Note that one of them is a complaint over the view stats.
If I go missing completely, it means WordPress ate me for posting this. In the meantime, you might want to check out your own blogs and see if anything is missing from your site. I’m waiting for support to get back to me on mine.
Edit: The Nano Poblano Oddly Specific Gratitude Blog Hop post just showed up but the other three are still missing.

I don’t know if any of my posts are missing or not, I wouldn’t remember them so how could I miss them? Ha ha, I just love having a swiss cheese memory (a Quantum Leap reference). I hope you get the help you need from the support team.

I did, and they were great! Thanks very much for your support, Mary. And for the Quantum Leap reference. I loved that show!

Well, I can see your sidebar, so there’s that. How did you discover that your posts were missing? Were you unable to view them?

Yes, it’s fixed. I just posted about it.
I noticed the sidebar was missing when I looked at my site after I posted the Friday prompt… I have no idea what prompted me to look at my site however. Somewhat ironic.
I could only not see them on my home page. The posts themselves were still available if I clicked on them from links.

Very weird. As far as I can tell, I haven’t had a similar issue. Phew.

Think is, the image that was the problem was the NaBloPoMo one. Maybe I screwed it up somehow. 😛

The NaBloPoMo badge? Really? I wonder why that would have caused the problem.

If I write about how balky WP can be, I may get booted off, too, Linda G. So must be messing up somehow, ya know?! Hahahahaha. Good golly, what’s going on? The case of the vanishing Linda G. world.

I was about to send out the search party, Linda G. I will not instead go look for your explanation. I can’t find it. Oh, no.

Linda – i had this happen a few weeks ago. The WP guy that helped me could not figure out WHY it happened but he told me to go into ‘settings’ and turn off the ‘infinite scroll’ option. Once I did thst, the missing posts appeared. (It makes no sense to turn off infinite scroll in order to get posts to scroll, but it worked). A few days later, I turned it back on and , so far, no more of that glitch (I probably just jinxed myself).

Thanks Sammy. I tried turning off the infinite scroll but it made it worse, so I turned it back on. Now it’s the same as before – still missing 3 posts.
I hope you didn’t jinx yourself!

I just checked my widgets (because my sidebar was missing too, but they were okay) and when I went back on to my home page everything is back to normal. Not sure if it was a coincidence, but hey, it seems to be fixed. 🙂
Thanks for your concern, Sammy. 🙂

I had this happen to the first few posts I ever blogged, but they were really only there because I had a few classes that required it. I still have the documents in my dashboard, but no one else can see them.

Your posts turned up in the reader, and I clicked over from Facebook. Never noticed if they were missing from your main page.

That’s the weirdest thing – they still exist, and they’re not private. So why aren’t they there?
Thanks for getting to me from Facebook though! 🙂

Yikes. I hope it is just some dumb system glitch that will remedy itself or they will get your posts back. I know I will be upset if any of mine go missing. It makes me think that we should make copies or email them to ourselves. But that is a lot of work. Hope you get help from support ASAP.

Thanks, Deborah. It probably is a good idea to keep everything – but as you say, tonnes of work. I only keep my fiction. Everything on here would be irretrievably lost.

My stats did what yours did the other day, dropped 30% in fifteen minutes. I give up trying to know what is happening 🙂

Yeah, that happened to quite a few people.
Having a post that a dozen or so people have linked to because it was a prompt go missing is going a bit far though. Normally I don’t bother support with these things, but this time I did.

I don’t seem to be missing any but the stats have been wonky as you say. They shouldn’t penalize you for the truth.
