My boss at the newspaper found someone who is willing to take over my route until the snow is gone! Which is wonderful (for me, not for my replacement) since the freezing rain is coming down like a bugger right at the moment. In fact I hope I can get this post finished before the power goes out.
In celebration of the fact that I didn’t have to deliver papers today, I went to the local community center where they have an indoor track for walking and running. It encircles a hockey arena, so the temperature was rather chilly, but it’s a safe environment for walking, albeit pretty boring. I walked for 40 minutes and it felt great! With the lack of interesting things to look at however, I think I may take my headphones tomorrow and listen to music while I walk.
So that’s my news. What’s new with you? How’s the weather?

I’m in Connecticut and this has been a harsh winter for sure. I’ve been out on the weekends socially about 3 times this year and that is torture for me. I need my R&R but it’s been so cold and miserable out I’ve been trapped at home. So while others are out just enjoying a nice drink or hanging out with friends I’ve been home. Great part is, I’ve been working, editing pictures or creating posts until 1 sometimes 2 am. Glad spring is coming 🙂

Excercise is excellent no matter the surroundings, Linda G. Good move. I walk in a mall in the winter, but not enough this one.

Thanks for the encouragement, Mr. Mark. 🙂 I find the problem with the mall is they keep it so dry… I’m convinced it’s so you’ll buy a drink. The place I go also has a rubber-lined floor, so it’s easier on the back and legs. I’d recommend seeing if there’s a similar place close-by. 🙂

You are right about the mall being de-humidied to the point that my nose is about to fall off my face, Linda G. They want everybody to buy up the drinks, for sure. The rubber track sounds so much healthier than the mall floor, too. Karen and I used to be members of Gold’s Gym, with that kind of running/walking track, until they raised their prices so much we said outta-here. I should look for a better free alternative such as you’ve found up there.

Yes, gym memberships are very expensive. There’s a gym in the place I go as well – only the track is free. I hope you can find the same arrangement! 😀

You walked to take a break from walking? I’d probably have stayed home curled up in bed 😉

While that would be nice, I get very stiff. I dread waking up in the morning in fact. Walking is now the only exercise I can do… can’t stop! 🙂

Ha, too late. Did a very graceful slide-fall negotiating a mountain of snow (ice underneath) at the bus stop parking lot last night. Not painful, but I was covered in snow.

I shouldn’t say this–you’ll hate me–but it’s sunny and snowless and the daffodils, hyacinths, and crocuses are up. Yesterday, though, a wind was driving hail at us hard enough to embed the stuff in your skin if you were out.

sunny, some clouds around and a horribly cold wind which according to the weather man will stop this afternoon. And I might go down Weavers Way again :-). Hope you enjoy it more with your headphones

Weather, did you say weather? I ready your post to share our day, so I left for work taking snapshots all the way. It was mild and most sidewalks were still lumpy with ice but not hard…streets were almost bare and the sun was shining. Then I left at 10pm tonight and OH NO…SNOW is a 4 letter word…could not find the sidewalk, my short cut…well, forget looking for footprints to stay on track and NOT slip into 3 feet of snow. That was my day.

Smart move – staying off the sidewalks during the end of winter/start of spring. I once heard a report that gave the numbers for sprains and falls coming into an ER when the sidewalks were icy -it was scary, something like half the injuries were slipping and falling injuries.
Take care Linda and i hope the loss of income doesn’t hurt too much.

Good work getting the blood flowing on your day off!
I spent 2 hours walking around the house and surrounding properties looking for my sons pet turtle.
Lesson for the day:
Never believe a turtle when he tells you he wont go far.
Really enjoying following your blog Linda, and all the talented people that come along with it.

Let’s see. We started with snow today, then it turned to sleet and ice. Then it warmed up to 37 degrees F and started raining. But now it’s supposed to drop down and freeze overnight. If I can actually get my car door open in the morning, I expect a real fun drive to work.
Or I could just stay home and watch the leaking kitchen ceiling.

Warm(ish) @ 42, but rain instead of snow.

The wind and rain keep me from riding my bike on the beach so I have to walk as well. Take the music. Only way to do it.

That’s what I need (when my shoulder can handle it) – a bike! Do you always walk with music? I’m a bit too much of a chicken to wear headphones outside.

I have in the ear buds. They are the noise reduction kind that fit in the ear. You can get them from Skull Candy for ten bucks
