Neglect

I was going to write this post this afternoon but instead I took a three hour vacation nap. It was badly needed – that’s all I can say in my defense.

You may have noticed that I’ve kinda gone missing for the past week. And if you have, you might be wondering why. If so, you’re not alone. I’m wondering why too. My occupations of the past week have included but are not limited to having one of my kids home already on summer vacay (the other one’s last day was today), a weekend road trip to Montreal to see Rush in concert (they were awesome!), working on editing my novel (yes, still), watching Downton Abbey on Netflix (I’m so addicted, thanks Joey), and worrying about whether or not I’ve, somewhere down the road, (pun not intended) screwed up the numbering on my “Second Seat on the Right” series only to get to August 31st and find out that my year had more or less than 365 days. I mean seriously, how much would that suck?

All this to say I’m sorry for not reading a single One-Liner Wednesday (yet), neglecting my comments, and generally ignoring everyone on WordPress. If you’ve wondered why I haven’t visited your blog lately please don’t take it personally. At the moment you’re all on the continent and I’m set adrift at an overwhelming distance away. *waves*

Please send Big Macs via carrier pigeon. And if you do see me, I beg of you, don’t thumb your nose at me. I’ll be back, I promise.

P.S. Please look for the SoCS prompt tomorrow!

  1. I feel you girl! Lately I’ve been reading from quite a few writers that they are shutting down and taking a time out, san technology. I have been tempted to do that as well as I’ve been drowning in revisions and life for months now. I’m taking a well needed vacay next week and have decided to go laptopless myself after reading about so many others taking the plunge. I hope you enjoyed your time out. 🙂

  2. No chance I can send you a Big Mac – the girl would eat it (extra pickles and bacon!) before I got that far…

I’m adrift with you. Between the four-month creative marathon I’m in, and the oceans of homeschooling paperwork (really, New York, does there need to be SO MUCH to say the kids are growing, and learning, and we’re all happy, here?)…well, I’ve dropped all the comment balls I was trying to juggle.

I say we forgive ourselves and try to go from here…as for that numbering issue, I hope all works out perfectly.

  3. Glad you are having a break. You are doing better than I am on my break! I haven’t even managed One-Liner Wednesday or SoCS since I have been In Hawai’i. I’m lucky if I remember what day it is! I have been doing some posts to my blog and am finally dipping my toe into submitting poems to literary journals, so I haven’t been a total slacker – just a mostly slacker! 😉

  4. We all need a break now and then, Linda, and your kids need you. We’ll all still be here (hopefully) when you’re ready to jump back in.

  6. Rush live is a fine excuse to be absent, seen them twice and, as you rightly say, they were awesome.

    • They are! It was the 40th anniversary tour so they played something off every album and ended the concert with “Working Man.” Really took me back to my teenage years. All I want to do now is dust off the vinyl and listen to them all over again!

  8. So social media isn’t at the top of your priorities? Now I’m curious. Is there really a world out there beyond social media?

  9. Downton Abbey!!! It sure is addictive. But then I just love those kind of series.
Sometimes life just happens, in between the blogging 😉

  10. Not to worry Linda. I’ll see what I can do about the Big Mac, but I really can’t be trusted with food.

I’m sorry about Downton Abbey, but c’mon, it’s too fabulous to pass up!
You’re sorely missed, but then, here you are 🙂

    • Oh yes, the OMG WHAT DO THE CHILDREN NEED NOW is a constant part of my life. 😛
Downton IS fabulous! I’m just sad that I’m closer to where they’ve stopped filming it than the beginning! I NEED MORE!!!
Thank you so much for your kindness, my dear. I miss you too!!
