#SoCS – Under Pressure

I’ve been battling a headache all day. It’s right behind my right eye, so I’m typing this with my eyes closed. I’m tempted to not fix any mistakes…

I think my headache is due to the barometric pressure. I’ve suffered with barometer headaches for years. I find unless I take an anti-inflammatory when I first feel it coming on, it won’t go away. Stress doesn’t help either.

I went to the mall today to find the dvd “Alice in Wonderland” – the Johnny Depp one – for Alex. Went into seven different stores and couldn’t find it. I’m blaming the new movie on the fact that everyone was sold out. I was impressed at how much of a comeback vinyl is making in the record stores. I have to wonder if the quality is the same as it used to be though. If it’s taken from a digital recording and put on an album, it isn’t going to have the same depth as it did from the master. I need to find out how they’re making vinyl recordings these days.

Anyway, I came home and found the DVD for $8 Canadian on Amazon, so I ordered it. So weird. And did you hear the news about Johnny yesterday? His new wife has a restraining order and is claiming he abused her physically. I was appalled at how many people on Twitter yesterday had already convicted him and thrown away the key without hearing a single word on his side of the story. I’m not saying he didn’t do it – he may just admit to it when he does come out and speak. What gets me though is all the armchair justice and vitriol from people who either never liked him in the first place, or are obviously jealous of his status in the world. I say that because many of the comments were “people will continue to buy his movies anyway.” What has that even got to do with it? He’s not the only person who stands to make royalties on them. Ugh, society and social media really get on my nerves sometimes.

I think my headache is gone. Thanks, Johnny.

  1. I honestly didn’t know these headaches were real. Hope they kept their distance – and well, you can catch Johnny if it happens again. I am hoping the allegations are not true – but then, we are made to believe that people which such insane talents are a little off in reality? Let’ see how it plays out.

    • A little “off” or just simply human šŸ˜› It’ll be interesting to see what happens.
As for the headaches, I’ve had them for years. I’ve known people who can predict rain by them…

  3. New vinyl is actuality pretty good. It’s made the same way, but using “new” raw vinyl to make the albums. A large percentage of original vinyl era albums were made from reconstituted vinyl, which had been recycled and melted back together, and therefore the quality wasn’t always great.
The latest batch of releases mostly use brand new vinyl and are heavier, too, which gives better sound reproduction.

Having said that, they do now cost a small fortune.

  4. On Social Media, you are always guilty until proven innocent, esp. Twitter.

  6. Hope you headache is better. I also get awful headaches which just go on and on. These days limelight seems to be equivalent to guilt.

  7. I suspect, but withhold judgment, that she is pulling this out just to get more from the divorce. His ex-wife is speaking up on his behalf.

  8. I was just a kid in the vinyl era (80s), but didn’t really like it because they always skipped. I got my music on cassettes, but the tape player always pulled it out! CDs and downloads will stay a long time. Yes, I still buy CDs for the collectible packaging. šŸ™‚

  9. Hope you feel better. I really like Johnny Depp and think he, as should anyone else, be given a fair chance to defend himself. Trials in the media are bad. šŸ™‚

    • Zolmig sounds like something that needs a prescription. I’ll check it out – thanks for mentioning it, Pamela. šŸ™‚
Innocent until proven guilty sounds right, doesn’t it? Apparently not to everyone. šŸ˜›

  11. The news about Johnny Depp was surprising. Granted, I don’t know much about him, just have seen him in movies and have liked most of them, and thought he’d done some charitable things before like dressing as Jack Sparrow for sick kids and such (if I remember right). Hope your headache stays gone. They’re no fun.

  12. Loved that movie. Saw it inn the theater.
I love him and was sad to hear the news yes yesterday. I try to remind myself that I’ve loved his films, his acting, but I’ve never met him. I don’t know what kind of man he is and what it is like to live with him. I don’t know her either, or her motives. I would never tell anyone they are wrong for speaking out and up, if they are being abused. I don’t take a side because I honestly don’t know. I hope the truth will come out, which is usually somewhere in the middle.
I agree. These things are enough to cause a headache. I don’t need much to bring one on myself. Hope yours goes away for good.
My brother is a big vinyl fan. I could ask him. He just loves them.

    • I’ve still never seen “Alice.” I suppose I’ll be able to watch it soon. šŸ˜€
When you think about it, if we knew what actors were like solely by their movies, they wouldn’t be very good actors, would they? Haha. But no, you can’t take sides until you’ve heard the whole story.
Thanks for your good wishes, dear Kerry. Please let me know if you get a chance to ask your brother, what he says!

  13. I hope your headache clears away very soon Linda. My wife gets headaches like these, that you just can’t escape. I feel bad for you. I wonder how many of those in judgement on social media would hold up if you threw their life under a microscope. I don’t really like Johnny Depp, but we’re all entitled to fair process.

    • I seem to have escaped my headache for now. Must be all your good wishes. šŸ˜€ Thank you, Dan.
As for the judgement, I think that’s just the thing. They say we hate in others what we hate or fear about ourselves, so chances are they’re lashing out at their own shortcomings.
