In response to K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge prompt this week, which was shadows and silhouettes, I decided to use a picture I took in May. I was standing under a cherry tree and for some reason or another, took a picture of the sun through the branches.
I thought first to see what my new phone could do with it. I was quite happy with this version, which I did nothing particular with except change the filters available. I like the way the branches stand out, giving it a skeletal look:
Then I decided to play around with that. This version, I think, has a bit of a Dystopian feel to it:
And finally, here’s what I ended up with when I played around with the original. I was trying to bring out the prism of the sun’s rays. It certainly shows off the actual brilliance of the pink blossoms:

Each one has its own charm, but loved the last but one a little bit more 😉 Lovely photographs, Linda

I love the richness of the fourth image, but the third definitely carries a strong dystopian vibe — quite a bit less hopeful than the others. The second one, the one you describe as “skeletal”, makes me think “frosty”. 🙂

Frosty as in the snowman? It does seem a bit cool, now that you mention it. 🙂

Haha, not so much the snowman as the flowers icy crisp around the edges.

The different emotions that each picture evokes, are quite disparate. Truly I love the sharpened pink in the last photo. That said, it makes me slightly uneasy to know that my emotional state is being determined by a “filter” change in the electronic guts of a computer (your camera being a small computer).

Actually, the last one is more accurate to life. I think the lens filtered out some of the colour in the original because it was protecting itself from the glare of the sun.

These are interesting photos. I agree the third one has a dystopian feel. I particularly like the processing in photo no. 2. I followed your lead and went and had a look at the cosmic photo challenge. It looks like an interesting challenge and I just had to join in too. 🙂

Thanks for your comment, Suzanne! I’m really enjoying the filters on my new phone. 😀
