I’m really bad at remembering to take my reusable shopping bags to the grocery store with me. Today was no exception – I had to go back into the house to get one. So I get to the store, pick up the two things I need and as the cashier rings them through, I say, “Oh! I need a bag.” So she sells me a disposable plastic one for 5¢.
It’s not until I go to pick up one of my items that I remember I have my reusable bag tucked under my arm. Yes, I forgot I remembered.
The cashier and I had a good laugh.

Anyone who would like to participate, feel free to use the “One-Liner Wednesday” title in your post, and if you do,
you can ping back here to help your blog get more exposure. To execute a ping back, just copy the URL in the address bar on this post, and paste it somewhere in the body of your post. Your link will show up in the comments below. Please ensure that the One-Liner Wednesday you’re pinging back to is this week’s! Otherwise, no one will likely see it but me.
NOTE: Pingbacks only work from WordPress sites. If you’re self-hosted or are participating from another host, like Blogger, please leave a link to your post in the comments below.
As with Stream of Consciousness Saturday (SoCS), if you see a ping back from someone else in my comment section, click and have a read. It’s bound to be short and sweet.
Unlike SoCS, this is not a prompt so there’s no need to stick to the same “theme.”
The rules that I’ve made for myself (but don’t always follow) for “One-Liner Wednesday” are:
1. Make it one sentence.
2. Try to make it either funny or inspirational.
3. Use our unique tag #1linerWeds.
4. Add our very cool badge to your post for extra exposure!
5. Have fun!

I’d forgotten how much fun Wednesdays could be
with a visit to our own Linda G. (!)

You’re definitely not alone on this. I’m not sure if it’s a sign of advancing age or just the distraction of having so many other things swirling around in our minds.
I think I’ll go with the latter explanation 😉

How hilarious, I believe I’ve done something similar a time or two before. It makes a great story, and great to laugh off. 😉

I suppose we all do such silly things once in a while. As you say, fun to laugh off. 🙂

This is how it begins. Have you gotten to the stage where you walk into a room and have no idea why you went in there?

I’ve been doing that for thirty years already. 😛

Ho, my blog-toonist in residence, once got home from work (wearing Wellington boots) and was changing into sandals before going grocery shopping.
Having replaced one boot with a sandal, the phone rang and he was chatting for ten minutes or so, after which he hung up and went shopping.
He was halfway round Waitrose (dreadful, overpriced middle class supermarket) when he realised he was still wearing one boot and one sandal.
The strange looks he’d been getting whilst walking down there now made a horrible kind of sense…

I’ve done that very same thing with my bag tucked under my arm. Hoping to add my One liner in a few minutes!

I do the same thing at one of the markets. I need to learn to put the bags on the conveyor belt first!

We do the same thing with coupons, Linda. We go back inside to get them, only to bring them back home.

Oh I’ve totally given up on coupons. I find them in the bottom of my purse sometimes when they’re so old I’m surprised they don’t have jobs of their own.

Ha! I’ve looked all over for my glasses, couldn’t find them, stepped into the shower and saw water running down on glass in front of my eyes – I had them on.
