I was annoyed that the snow prevented me from getting in the car to drive Alex to his dad’s near Ottawa yesterday – I’d have been right in the spot, right about the same time a 30 vehicle accident, complete with a 10,000 litre hydrofloric acid spill, happened. No deaths reported as I write this.

Accidents like the one you’re describing happen occasionally here, and when they do, it’s always during bad weather and they always take several days to clean up. My prayers for the people involved.

I’m glad you’re okay, Linda. It’s terrible what happened to the driver. I hope everyone else involved in the crash is doing okay.

Thanks, Joanne. It was a bad crash. I’m thinking of them today too. As it turned out, the driver of the tanker died. 😦

So am I. Although the same thing that prevented me from going was what caused the accident.

WOW. Glad for this outcome. My hubby was telling me about the spill – apparently the acid is one of the deadliest if heated!

I’m glad the snow intervened on your behalf, Linda, but also glad that no fatalities resulted from the accident. I hope everyone involved made it home safely without major injury or frostbite.

As it turns out, the driver of the tanker died and twenty-nine were taken to hospital, some of them firefighters. 😦 The cause was blowing snow. My best friend John was driving on the 401 last night and said the wind and ice almost jackknifed him a few times. I won’t be going today, either.

I’m sorry to hear about the driver and so many injured. There is no safe driving on ice

Fate steps in. It’s a very good thing. Even if you weren’t in the accident, you would have been stuck in the cold for a very long time.

Thanks, Barb. I do feel bad for those involved, though maybe it will teach a few people not to tailgate.
