The obligatory eight-legged occupant is back in my kitchen this year. Every summer, a small spider moves in and makes a web far enough away from where I normally walk that I leave it, thinking why not? It’ll eat the occasional fly and I won’t have to race around my kitchen with a tea towel chasing it (the fly). By July my occupant is medium-sized and by the end of August it’s a giant, sitting in the middle of its web patiently waiting for its next meal. It’s definitely more patient than my kids, I’ll give it that.
Except this year I have two eight-legged occupants in my kitchen. They’re about six feet apart and so far I’ve seen neither stray from its web. I just hope one of them doesn’t decide to visit its neighbour.
If I have hundreds of eight-legged occupants in my kitchen next year, I’m moving out. I already have hundreds of six-legged occupants in my kitchen. Fruit flies have six legs, don’t they? They’re too small to dissect, and anyway, by the time I’ve gotten one to slow down, it’s flat.
This post is going downhill. I’d better put an end to it.
Awesome new badge up there ^^^^^^^^^^^^^ 😀

Sorry it took so long to get back here, but I have to say, thank you for letting them stay. I understand the nervousness about multiplication. I usually catch spiders with a wine glass and slide a thick piece of junk mail on top and put them outside, so there’s that option if you feel adventurous.

I’ve done that many a time. And don’t worry about it! I just got to your one-liner Wednesday from last week, and I host it! 🙄 I’m the one who should be apologizing.

I love all of God’s little creatures, but I might have to draw the line at letting a spider inhabit the kitchen. Then again, I have a small kitchen and I don’t think there’s room for the both of us.

It took me a while to see pant in occupants. Great word. You are brave. I don’t love spiders. But I am fond of you the little I know. Jesus is very fond of you. Is the word I a pain when it always needs a capital?

There can only be one Queen Bee, Linda 🙂 But then… spidey friends aren’t so bad!

Usually you only see female spiders in webs as most female spiders eat the males after mating. … Ungrateful or what? As for having two spiders ( possibly both female) obviously the word has got around that your kitchen is a great place to hang out! As for fruit flies I hate them too especially in my 🍷 💝💗

Oh indeed. I’ve started drinking wine in bed where there are no bugs. 😉 😀 hehehe
Good to know about the females! Hopefully they didn’t snack on their mates (mates being the operative word) before they came into my house!!

Good luck containing all those legs. We tend to let spiders live but if they’re on the move, they get relocated outside.

Ha! If they’re on the move in my house, they usually get relocated to the toilet. 😛

Fortunately the fruit flies die when the temperature drops. The spiders tend to just disappear too … or at least they have in the past.

So many spiders. Just abandon the house live somewhere without spiders.
