#SoCS – D’OH!

Oh yeah, I’m supposed to write a blog post today, aren’t I. D’oh!

It’s been a day. I managed to get out of the house for a while and not either go shopping for food, nor take Alex somewhere, nor pick Alex up from somewhere, nor do anything for someone else other than me. And it was nice. No internet, no kids, it was like a mini-vacation. For two hours.

You set the bar low, everything seems like a treat that’s not work.

Wow, was that sentence ever backwards.

I’m not sure if I’ll be able to do A-Z this year. Only one day left and I have no idea what to write about. Besides that, I’m participating in NaNoWriMo Camp to finish off the third book in my Dagmaru series, and I have a couple of editing jobs to do. And on the 24th I’m starting a course. SURE I’ll be able to fit in blogging every day. SURE! There we go–a self-flagellation theme.

Watch out in May for the Linda G. Hill line of cat ‘o nine tails, available in assorted colours. They’ll come with an instructional video, including bonus content on how to blog in your sleep.

That’ll bring in the dough.

There's a writer in here, clawing her way out.

  1. Good for you for taking those two hours. Take two more soon! Take five! Take care of you!

  2. Hey, it’s okay if you wing it. You don’t need a theme. I understand if you don’t, though…

  3. I’m giving reading-time preference to non-A2Zers. There’s no way I can read everything this month, so I’m having to figure out a way to do it.

  4. I liked how you did it last year, Linda. It was rather rebellious and cocky. I copied you, I think and didn’t sign up. I just signed up for it and found it confusing. Whether or not I do it right, I am going to try and use the alphabet system to help with the 1,666 words for CampNaNo. We’ll see how that works out. I have a vague idea for the novel so… But neither you or Joey should feel any guilt. I don’t know how either of you do all you do and blog, too. I’m retired/on disability and cannot keep up! I am glad you are both here to help those of us who still feel like nubes!

  5. There have been a few times I get home from work with 15 minutes to sit on my sofa before I go pick up a kid, and sometimes, those 15 minutes of solitude are incredibly valuable to my sanity, so I get you with the two hours.
I am not doing A-Z. I’ve done it 5 times, and it’s been a hoot, but this year, I can’t manage it. Dough takes precedence lately 😉

    • You’re brave to sit A-Z out, my friend. I can’t seem to reconcile the idea that I don’t need to work myself to death. How do you do it?

      • I balance my immense guilt by vacillating constantly. I am worthy of spending time on work projects that give me a sense of purpose, being of service to others, having something that is my own. I am also entitled to enjoy my family and to attend the events I provide for. It is pretty much constant guilt, unavoidable. But we are legion, working parents teetering carefully, treading fine lines. My husband is in a place where he has a desire to do the things he missed when he was in my position and I was home all the time and the kids seem to like it as well. That, I think, is a huge help and blessing.
