#SoCS – That Arrangement

The actual line, to put my post into context, is, “I wonder what Nina will think of that arrangement,” out of my own book, The Magician’s Blood. It was the closest book to me when I decided to write my SoCS post.

The line made me think about all the things we don’t have control of. Things that circumstances, or maybe even the universe, arranges for us. It’s scary to feel like we’re not in control of our lives, of our situation.

I find the control I have over the little things in life helps quell that fear. Even if it’s only an illusion, knowing that I can decide what to do with my time at least some of the time makes me feel like I’m in charge. What I do with that time isn’t always good or productive …

Is procrastination a lack of control? I suppose it is. It’s certainly a lack of discipline.

I need to take control of my procrastination.

Make it disappear.

Go away, procrastination! I’m sick of having no control over you!

There. We’ll see if that works.

(Note to self: read this post every day.)

  1. I’m the worlds worst procrastinator! I need to write a note to self too about it and read it every day every morning! Hahaha! 😀

  2. My ‘procrastination’ now that I trust it more, has been my saving grace this past couple of years – the few times I pushed forward, in effort to get over my ‘procrastination’ and have ‘discipline’ well – didn’t turn out well for anyone – I’m starting to trust that inner voice WAYYY more than I used to – :). A touch of procrastination, I have found, is the only thing that keeps me sane in “2.5 second…Oh Look at the Bright shiny NEW thing…..” world – LOL

  4. Procrastination sure does get around. I think lots of us have that one hanging over our heads…perhaps I’ll try reading that phrase daily, too. 😉

  5. I think you are not the only one with procrastination issues. I keep saying I’m going to do something about it but then…and yet I feel so good when I tackle and finish a task that has been on my list for a while. Have to remember that good feeling.

  6. I am quite the opposite way, Linda. I must always do today what could be done tomorrow. It isn’t very restful.

  8. I think procrastination is a control we have over facing that job that seems insurmountable. It is fear. Once we conquer the fear of what we must do we can find the job being done. (I’m full of philosophy nonsense today!)
