My day today so far–10:51am:
Ventured out to the grocery store for the first time in at least a week. Spotted the elusive TP–grabbed a pack. They’re only letting people out of the store with one pack. I don’t really need it yet, but my neighbours might be desperate. Every store in town was out of TP yesterday, which means they probably will be tomorrow, too. Leaving it in the trunk of my car to give away to anyone who didn’t make it to the store today.
I managed to get almost everything I needed. I was SO relieved to get into the store to find it looking the same as always, fully stocked. I had a nightmare last night that I went into my regular grocery store and they’d reduced the size of it to two aisles. No fresh produce aside from giant gourds, and barely anything else at all. And in my dream there were SO many people. In real life, not so much.
My heartburn is horrible. It feels like my esophagus is on fire all the time, except when I’m out walking, when I’m eating, and when I wake up in the morning. Which brings me to yesterday.
Yesterday:
I had a phone appointment with my doctor to discuss my heartburn. I was very happy to learn that they’re not taking patients in the office unless absolutely necessary. I phoned them at noon and got my appointment scheduled for 3:30. She prescribed something for my stomach and I had it before dinner time. I hope if they’re not doing this in every city, they will soon.
Why I’m writing this post:
Because if you’re like me and stuck at home already, or if you’re going to be like me soon, the days of the week are going to be hell to keep track of. We have a wonderful community here on WordPress, and I’m sure many people are feeling nervous and/or isolated. I want to make sure every one of us has somewhere to congregate and someone to talk to.
I have loads of work to do, getting my books edited and written, so I may not be around too much. But I want everyone to know that you can start discussions with each other in the comments, and if you’d like to write your own “What Day is it Anyway?” post, you can link to this one. Hashtag #WDIIA.
Let’s keep in touch!

The older I get, the more my body tells me when I’m stressed with heartburn or other digestive issues. I hope the medication helps. Chewing gum helps my heartburn.

I love the idea of What Day Is It Anyway!! Everything does seem to be blurring–more than usual 🙂 I talked to my cousin in Texas today, who said the grocery store where she shops has made a special time frame for only seniors to shop–younger folks must shop other hours. It sounded like such a kind and caring idea–until she told me the downside: that time slot is now way overcrowded with shoppers, defeating the warning to not gather in large crowds…

I decided the trick is to go to the store at like 530 in the morning… after they have restocked and nobody wants to get out of bed, yet. That’s how I found toilet paper one morning… but there was no meat. I tried again the next morning and on my way to a different walmart, there was a grocery store. It had just opened. I found meat for dinner.

I love this idea and a week into “social distancing”, I feel like many of us need this. Thanks for getting the ball rolling.

This is such a wonderful idea! I’ll join in too. I’m so glad you got ahold of some TP. I have no idea whether we’re supposed to ration as I’m in a care facility and we get it delivered to us through some wholesale store I believe.
Sorry to hear about your heartburn but so glad you got some medication for it.

Brilliant idea! I’m keeping a little “diary” called “Coping with Covid-19” I think maybe I’ll post some of it. 😉

Bummer about the heartburn but TP!!! I haven’t seen any for days around here. Not even delivery available. We have some but we’ll have to ration soon. Thanks for checking in.

Fight fire with fire. My wife gets mad at me because, when I have an upset stomach, I eat. I figure putting food in there will give the acid something to do 🙂

I think worrying is the cause for the heart burn you have. I get it too when stressed!

I strongly suspect that’s the case for me too. It goes away when I’m not worrying.

Try to relax. To much news plays havoc with our nervous system.
