What Day is it Anyway? Sunday, March 29th, 2020

My day today so far–3:04pm:

Alex and I were working on his Easter bunny decoration earlier. Got that finished and hung up, then I went to the pharmacy–that’s about it. It’s a rainy day. Alex is restless and won’t let me work, which is frustrating.

Yesterday:

Went for one long walk. A couple of days ago now (I think), Alex’s teacher was talking about the importance of social distancing and the fact that he can just wave to people without getting too close. Alex, being the social butterfly he is, started waving to everyone. So we were walking up one of the busier streets and I was explaining to him in sign language that he doesn’t have to wave to everyone, but if he sees a friend, that’s okay. Unfortunately, I wasn’t thinking about the fact that there was a car coming as I explained it. The friendly man in the passenger seat waved back at me.

Ah, I love sign language.

Why I’m writing this post:

Because if you’re like me and stuck at home already, or if you’re going to be like me soon, the days of the week are going to be hell to keep track of. We have a wonderful community here on WordPress and all over the Internet as well, and I’m sure many people are feeling nervous and/or isolated. I want to make sure every one of us has somewhere to congregate and someone to talk to.

I want everyone to know that you can start discussions with each other in the comments, and if you’d like to write your own “What Day is it Anyway?” post, you can link to this one. Hashtag #WDIIA.

Let’s keep in touch!

  4. Hi Linda. I just found this as Di told me about her following it. Bit is a really good thing that you are doing here. Me and my husband are totally isolated and going stir crazy as we are both in wheelchairs and I am blind too. We used to rely on going out in the car for a drive in the afternoon to get out of here a but, but now we can’t. Not allowed to go in car any more! As we can’t walk to do the exercise stint (only once a day allowed anyway) we feel we are going mad. I am an outdoor person so this is real hard. I spent Sunday writing nonsebse poetry and stories for the first time. I really enjoyed doing that and will do some more maybe. I longed to actually speak to someone yesterday but there is no one. So writing is my only outlet. Glad I found this space but a bit difficult finding my way here, being blind! Have a good day everyone

    • So sorry to hear of your difficulties. But it seems you’ve tapped into a wonderful way to cope by writing. They say creating something–anything–is one of the best ways to keep one’s mind from going stagnant. And to stay sane! I know I’m relying on it quite heavily these days.
Have you tried audiobooks? You can download Libby, a free app that connects you to your local library. I’m not sure whether you can get a library card now that they’re all closed, but it would be worth a try. Then you could listen to all the books the library has to offer.
As for finding my blog, there’s a link on the right side of the screen (if you’re using a computer) to follow me by email. You can choose to receive an email immediately when I post an article.
So glad you wrote to introduce yourself! Have a wonderful day. And keep writing! 🙂

  6. We are hanging in there, some things not normal, but daily routines not impacted enough and our ‘love of being home’ being supported – so, overall, we are okay here – Hang in there and alas, maybe waving to everyone is just what everyone needs in ‘pick me up’ just now – especially if they drive/commute and listen to radio/news/etc. the whole time – 🙂

  13. Happy Sunday, Linda. Cute decoration. We don’t put up decorations any more but I still have a bunch that the kids made when they were little.
