The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS April 16, 2022

I totally forgot it was Friday! And a Good Friday, at that! Anyway, I’m here now with your Stream of Consciousness Saturday prompt. Happy Easter to all. I’m including a word starting with “N” for the letter of the day for tomorrow’s A-Z Challenge. Here’s your prompt:

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “nose/noes/knows.” Use one, use ’em all, bonus points if you use all three. Have fun!

After you’ve written your Saturday post tomorrow, please link it here to this week’s prompt page and check to make sure it’s here in the comments so others can find it and see your awesome Stream of Consciousness post. Anyone can join in!

To make your post more visible, use our beautiful SoCS badge! Just paste it in your Saturday post so people browsing the reader will immediately know your post is stream of consciousness and/or pin it as a widget to your site to show you’re a participant. Wear it with pride!!

2019-2020 SoCS Badge by Shelley! https://www.quaintrevival.com/

Here are the rules:

1. Your post must be stream of consciousness writing, meaning no editing (typos can be fixed), and minimal planning on what you’re going to write.

2. Your post can be as long or as short as you want it to be. One sentence – one thousand words. Fact, fiction, poetry – it doesn’t matter. Just let the words carry you along until you’re ready to stop.

3. I will post the prompt here on my blog every Friday, along with a reminder for you to join in. The prompt will be one random thing, but it will not be a particular subject. For instance, I will not say “Write about dogs”; the prompt will be more like, “Make your first sentence a question,” “Begin with the word ‘The,’” or will simply be a single word to get you started.

4. Ping back! It’s important, so that I and other people can come and read your post! For example, in your post you can write “This post is part of SoCS:” and then copy and paste the URL found in your address bar at the top of this post into yours.  Your link will show up in my comments for everyone to see. The most recent pingbacks will be found at the top. NOTE: Pingbacks only work from WordPress sites. If you’re self-hosted or are participating from another host, such as Blogger, please leave a link to your post in the comments below.

5. Read at least one other person’s blog who has linked back their post. Even better, read all of them! If you’re the first person to link back, you can check back later or go to the previous week by following my category, “Stream of Consciousness Saturday,” which you’ll find below the “Like” button on my post.

6. Copy and paste the rules (if you’d like to) in your post. The more people who join in, the more new bloggers you’ll meet and the bigger your community will get!

7. As a suggestion, tag your post “SoCS” and/or “#SoCS” for more exposure and more views.

8. Have fun!

    • I remember hearing about that one, but I think it was if not before my time, something I’d have been too young to listen to. 🙂

      • 🙂 I knew about it because in my youth, in wintertime, when the sky was clear and we were out and about in the car, a radio station down somewhere in Oklahoma, would, on Friday/Saturday nights, broadcast the radio serials of yore – On winter weekend nights, when I was young, my parent’s ‘date’ night consisted of either hosting or visiting neighbors, have a meal, visit/play cards/games or music – and we kiddos went along – so, I wasn’t there, either, for the original, live broadcast – just a piece of ‘blast from the past’ played by a radio, that sometimes, tuned in nicely, in our car, on the drive home – 😀 that said, over my lifetime, whenever at work among older co-workers, they always questioned my age/beauty treatments, if I tossed that line out in a conversation (happened alot when I worked in law enforcement or attorney’s offices as support staff – simply because, well…with intent or accident? was a question that came up often in those industries – among staff – LOL – it’s all relative given another’s perspective – 😀 But that’s the ‘true’ story – 😀

        • That’s when you say “Oil of Olay, every day” and leave ’em guessing. Haha! Yeah, I guess that phrase would come up often in those situations. Funny. 😀

          • Nah – ya give me to much ‘socially acceptable’ credit! Ya know what I did, just because of my lil devil side, that can’t resist? In THOSE days? There was a thriving esoteric, environmental, follow Mother Earth’s message groups that congregated in the area – for tourism, to make money off the wishes and hopes of others in need of healing, in the “Back to Basics/Mother Earth/Land’ movement – which was twisted around to read, “Bunch of Wiccan loonies moving in, bet they are lesbians too” – horrid, ignorant, sexist, judgemental platitudes – so me? I just, here and there, said, “Well…..don’t tell anyone – – you’re right – my transfer here was fast – and unprecendented, given I hadn’t served minimum of 2 years in my last duty station…but shhhh….if you must know….I’m 457 and I moved here to be closer to my sisters….” – LOL True story? I was a single mom, an opening came up for me and my son to be closer in drive time to family, and I was the one willing and able to move fast, transfer fast to fill in at a station that was severely short-staffed, and hadn’t messed up anything too badly for them to fear me not being a good fit for the open position – LOL
