Social Media and Cover Art

It’s official – I think I’m everywhere now. I just signed up for a Pinterest account today. Since starting this blog, I’ve added my name to Tumblr, Goodreads and Twitter … times two.

I created my second Twitter account for my novel… which brings me to a request.

I will be looking, I suppose soon, for an artist to render the cover, assuming I go the self-publishing route. I need someone who can draw or paint a realistic portrait. The picture I have in mind is pasted across the header of my novel’s Twitter account, here: https://twitter.com/thegreatdagmaru (Feel free to follow me while you’re there. 😉 ) For two reasons I can’t use this actual picture: one, it’s not mine, and two, because there are changes I’d like to make to it. It really just gives a general idea.

Among a couple of other things, this is the photo that inspired the novel. In my mind, some rendition of it must go on the cover.

If you know anyone who might be qualified and interested in doing some cover artwork, please let me know in the comments. Again, not in my immediate plans, but I’ll certainly contact anyone who is recommended.

In the meantime, if anyone would kindly explain to me how any of the above social media sites actually work, I would be truly grateful. I have no clue what I’m doing anywhere but here on WordPress – and even that’s questionable.

I’m serial commenting because I’m at your blog and both twitter feeds and may not get back right away. For now, my blink response is that your @LindaGHill is a good account! You have over 1,000 followers and each is worth a lot. Is there a reason why you want to feeds? I’ve seen many professionals merge their “professional” and “personal” accounts into something great. Plus, it might be easier to focus on just one. If you do merge the two, you could simply update @LindaGHill with an emphasis on your book, and convert it to the “new” look, and then just add engagement, engagement, engagement! I’m sure you’ll find a great fit for yourself and, oh, having one account means that when your next book comes out, you’ll just add it on and be good to go 🙂

Yes! I was up in the air about whether or not to start the second account. I figured once it’s about to be published I’ll have more to write about on there. But you’re probably right – one account is probably enough. Thanks for the advice! I’ll check out your link on the other comment soon. Your help is and will be much appreciated, Angie! 😀

I love twitter and, before I added my blog, was kicking it there. Spending less time there shows now, but I’m hoping to find a happy social media balance by gaining confidence in how each media works. I’ve collected some helpful articles on twitter at my scoop.it page http://www.scoop.it/t/twitter-3f-family-friends-fun . The main thing is to find out what makes you happiest there. Watching you on WordPress makes me think that you will like the engagement you can find on your “Notifications” stream. Just start saying hi to people and enjoy the ride! If you have an specific twitter questions, I’ll be happy to help. Oh, I’ll make sure to follow you and catch you there today 🙂 So happy for you and your book and may all of social media be your friend ❤

All I did was connect them to my blog, so I’m not sure how most of them work. Twitter is simply keep it short and simple. Don’t forget your ‘#’ thingies.

There is no wrong way to use social media, but there are a few ways to enjoy them more.

That’s what I gotta figure out. 😛 I remembered after I wrote this post about Instagram, so I went there to take a look… I have to sign up with my phone? That’s gonna take a while. 😛
