I’ve decided to stop doing SoCS.
Joking! It’s Friday, April Fool’s Day and time for your Stream of Consciousness Saturday prompt! Since many of us have begun the AtoZ April Challenge, I thought for at least this weekend I’d make it potentially easy for those who haven’t already written tomorrow’s post. So your prompt for tomorrow is as follows:
Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “be.” Use it as is or at the beginning of the word you decide to base your post on. Enjoy!
After you’ve written your Saturday post tomorrow, please link it here at this week’s prompt page and check to make sure it’s here in the comments so others can find it and see your awesome Stream of Consciousness post. Anyone can join in!
To make your post more visible, use the SoCS badge! Just paste it in your Saturday post so people browsing the reader will immediately know your post is stream of consciousness and/or pin it as a widget to your site to show you’re a participant. Wear it with pride!!
Here are the rules:
1. Your post must be stream of consciousness writing, meaning no editing, (typos can be fixed) and minimal planning on what you’re going to write.
2. Your post can be as long or as short as you want it to be. One sentence – one thousand words. Fact, fiction, poetry – it doesn’t matter. Just let the words carry you along until you’re ready to stop.
3. There will be a prompt every week. I will post the prompt here on my blog on Friday, along with a reminder for you to join in. The prompt will be one random thing, but it will not be a subject. For instance, I will not say “Write about dogs”; the prompt will be more like, “Make your first sentence a question,” “Begin with the word ‘The’,” or simply a single word to get your started.
4. Ping back! It’s important, so that I and other people can come and read your post! For example, in your post you can write “This post is part of SoCS:” and then copy and paste the URL found in your address bar at the top of this post into yours. Your link will show up in my comments for everyone to see. The most recent pingbacks will be found at the top.
5. Read at least one other person’s blog who has linked back their post. Even better, read everyone’s! If you’re the first person to link back, you can check back later, or go to the previous week, by following my category, “Stream of Consciousness Saturday,” which you’ll find right below the “Like” button on my post.
6. Copy and paste the rules (if you’d like to) in your post. The more people who join in, the more new bloggers you’ll meet and the bigger your community will get!
7. As a suggestion, tag your post “SoCS” and/or “#SoCS” for more exposure and more views.
8. Have fun!

I bought into the joke and had a panic attack. I would have had to think up something on my own. Yikes……..Linda.

I didn’t “be”lieve you for a minute that there would “be” no more SoCS — figured someone who writes about a magician would have something up her sleeve.

I experienced a state of mild panic of a second there, followed by relief. It was fun. Kinda sorta.

Eeks! I, for one, missed the first line. When I opened the post on my laptop the only thing that caught my eye were the colored ones, as usual, and then even when I read the whole post I somehow missed the first line and was wondering why everyone was saying ‘not so funny’ and only during the third time I saw the first line 😯

Okay okay Linda. You had me there for a minute, but I am highly gullible, even on a day like today, when I know people are playing pranks. You had me worried because I don’t know what I would do if you really did stop doing SoCS, but I thought there was a chance you needed a month off from it to focus on the April challenge so many are so fond of.

It’s a busy month, that’s for sure. But it would take me more than that to stop doing SoCS. I’m glad now I didn’t decide to go on with the joke longer. 😛

Had me going too. I was starting to think that makes sense as the A-Z challenge can get a bit overwhelming. But now I have to think of another post as my “B” is already done. I could let it be. But that would be the easy option! Have a good weekend.

I’d never let something as small as doing two simultaneous A to Z challenges stop me from continuing SoCS! 😛

Linda, I think I love you! I’ve already written my post, and thought I was going to BE doing a separate SoCS post for tomorrow…but guess what?!
My “B” post has “BE” twice, right in the title – A BEagle’s BEdside Manner”! So all I need to do is add my SoCS intro and outro (fancy word I picked up from my 11 year old!), and I’m golden (oh, and untangle the longer story that I’ll be linking to, and revise it, and post it to ff.net).
Anyway, I thought you might BE tickled by that coincidence!

I think Linda enjoys the fact that she said it anyways. Whether we find it funny or not. 😡I hope I’ll be less busy enough to partake in this challenge, my brain can’t even think up anything right now…Oh! it’s Stream of Consciousness no need to think, plan, just write…
Happy new April, Linda.🎉
