The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS May 18, 2024

It’s Friday! And I’m here with your Stream of Consciousness Saturday prompt. The last week has been a bit of a blur somehow. It’s gone both slow and fast. How does that happen? Here’s this week’s prompt:

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “What’s that smell?” Write the first thing that comes to mind. Enjoy!

After you’ve written your Saturday post tomorrow, please link it here to this week’s prompt page and check to make sure it’s here in the comments so others can find it and see your awesome Stream of Consciousness post. Anyone can join in!

To make your post more visible, use our beautiful SoCS badge! Just paste it in your Saturday post so people browsing the reader will immediately know your post is stream of consciousness and/or pin it as a widget to your site to show you’re a participant. Wear it with pride!!

2019-2020 SoCS Badge by Shelley! https://www.quaintrevival.com/

Here are the rules:

1. Your post must be stream of consciousness writing, meaning no editing (typos can be fixed), and minimal planning on what you’re going to write.

2. Your post can be as long or as short as you want it to be. One sentence – one thousand words. Fact, fiction, poetry – it doesn’t matter. Just let the words carry you along until you’re ready to stop.

3. I will post the prompt here on my blog every Friday, along with a reminder for you to join in. The prompt will be one random thing, but it will not be a particular subject. For instance, I will not say “Write about dogs”; the prompt will be more like, “Make your first sentence a question,” “Begin with the word ‘The,’” or will simply be a single word to get you started.

4. Ping back! It’s important, so that I and other people can come and read your post! For example, in your post you can write “This post is part of SoCS:” and then copy and paste the URL found in your address bar at the top of this post into yours.  Your link will show up in my comments for everyone to see. The most recent pingbacks will be found at the top. NOTE: Pingbacks only work from WordPress sites. If you’re self-hosted or are participating from another host, such as Blogger, please leave a link to your post in the comments below.

5. Read at least one other person’s blog who has linked back their post. Even better, read all of them! If you’re the first person to link back, you can check back later or go to the previous week by following my category, “Stream of Consciousness Saturday,” which you’ll find below the “Like” button on my post.

6. Copy and paste the rules (if you’d like to) in your post. The more people who join in, the more new bloggers you’ll meet and the bigger your community will get!

7. As a suggestion, tag your post “SoCS” and/or “#SoCS” for more exposure and more views.

8. Have fun!

Yes…how can a week feel like it’s slow and fast at the same time? Apparently I can fall into the trap as here I am finally commenting on the following Wednesday! 🤣 I hope your week is going well!

Wow! I smell skunk! Who knew they have overpopulated and seeking shelter in urban corridors and metro regions???

    {friend who is more world wise and keeps up on things, and goes to ‘town’ for shopping more often than I do…}

[laughter, combined with shake of head over my naivete] – “Um, you know there is a marijuana store just across the way, right?”

[me} “Oh, surely not! Why I was roommates with older work colleagues in the 80s and they smoked that stuff in the living room – it NEVER smelled like skunk spray! What are the modern growers doing to their hybrids and blends? That is NOT useful aromatherapy, I do not care if it was bred and 20 years of work to target/help with {chemo tmt side affects, glaucoma, macular degeneration, PTSD, etc., etc., etc.)

Sigh – I’m SO outdated in this loop, even while, folks sniff and say, “ohhhh…so you are from Colorado…..hmmpfh – – ” LOL

Maybe that’s it! They’ve done something to the growing process. I know I didn’t detest the smell of pot years ago as much as I do now. It’s horrendous!

I don’t claim to know the ‘why/wherefores’ of it all, even while I will freely admit, “not my thing – it makes me silly, loopy and unable to function for long time, if I am even just getting the hit second hand!” – but I also have a soft spot for those who smoke ‘pot’ over the mean drunks I had to deal with in bars – long ago – thus, all I figure is, “ahh..once made legal? the race was on for market share and they got so focused on formulas for this, that and the other (medical, escapism, etc.) they never once took time out to ask, “Hey…. Dude!??? Does it smell like skunk in here???” during product testing….. 😀

We started this week thinking it was Friday (on Monday) so it’s been a long slow journey to catch up with ourselves. I hope you have a great weekend, Linda.

Come to think of it, I got mixed up on the days of the week too. Maybe that’s got something to do with it. May have to start writing the occasional What Day is it Anyway? posts again. 😛
Have a great weekend too, Dan! Thanks!
