Ambulance driver before he transported me to the hospital: Are you allergic to anything?
Me: Maybe Amoxiclav …
(Conversation on Friday night, after I took my new antibiotic prescribed by the dentist.)
P.S. I’m better now, but it was a hell of a weekend.
If you would like to participate in this prompt, feel free to use the “One-Liner Wednesday” title in your post, and if you do, you can ping back here to help your blog get more exposure. To execute a pingback, just copy the URL in the address bar on this post, and paste it somewhere in the body of your post. Your link will show up in the comments below. Please ensure that the One-Liner Wednesday you’re pinging back to is this week’s! Otherwise, no one will likely see it but me.
NOTE: Pingbacks only work from WordPress sites. If you’re self-hosted or are participating from another host, please leave a link to your post in the comments below.
As with Stream of Consciousness Saturday (SoCS), if you see a pingback from someone else in my comment section, click and have a read. It’s bound to be short and sweet.
Unlike SoCS, this is not a prompt so there’s no need to stick to the same “theme.”
The rules that I’ve made for myself (but don’t always follow) for “One-Liner Wednesday” are:
1. Make it one sentence.
2. Try to make it either funny or inspirational.
3. Use our unique tag #1linerWeds.
4. Add our lovely badge to your post for extra exposure!
5. Have fun!

I’m very glad you’re doing better. It’s scary that we, as adults with grown kids, can be allergic to something like that and not even know it.

There are sooo many different concoctions out there, and more coming out all the time. On top of that, we can develop allergies. It’s all so uncertain!

Thanks, Joanne. My mouth, unfortunately, just needs time to heal. I’m on another antibiotic—one I’ve had many times. It seems to be working well.

I’m allergic to codeine and its derivatives, you don’t want to know what happens when I’m accidentally given it!!

I didn’t do well with the codeine I was given after my surgery either. These drugs can be scary!

Oh, geez! Found out I had developed an allergy to Aleve when I took some and went into anaphylactic shock. Better living through chemicals, right?

I had a reaction within ten minutes of one tablet of the new medication from my GP. I still cannot pronounce what the meds were but I broke out in a cold sweat,. felt sick and dizzy and decided to cuddle the toilet just in case. I have never felt that ill and it lasted almost an hour. Hubby rang the surgery and the doctor called back telling me to stop taking them. You think???????

Haha! Yeah, the doctor told me the same thing just before I left the emergency room. Just goes to show there must be people out there who need the advice.

New prescriptions are always scary! I think even worse than allergies (assuming they don’t kill you) is the antacid I was prescribed that gave me tinnitus. It’s been screaming in my ears 24/7 for going on five years now. And the antacid didn’t even work. 🙄
