It’s Christmas Eve here in Canada, in my time zone. With my late mid-month reminder to get colouring, I wanted to reach out and say Merry Christmas to all who celebrate it, and to remind you, especially the caregivers out there, to take time for yourselves to escape. Whether it’s colouring or doing something else you enjoy, it’s important to take a break, to run away and escape from all you do for others, even if you never leave your home.
And for those who don’t celebrate Christmas, I understand the chaos this time of year brings to schedules. I wish you peace throughout the season and into the new year and beyond.
On to the reminder to colour! You’ll find the links for the two bloggers who have participated already this month below. Make sure you check them out! I’ll leave the comments on in this post, but please go to the December 1st prompt to link your entries there, if you haven’t already posted. Or if you have, feel free to leave another link!
Here’s what I’m working on this month. I’m almost finished, so I have high hopes of completing it before the year is out.
This is the first year I’ve had no holiday themes in my calendar. I’ve bought the new one for next year already–looking forward to seeing what’s in it!
Thank you to our members who have posted so far! Here they are:
Hey there! It’s December 1st and time for your Escapist Coloring Club prompt. If you’d like to join the club, all you have to do is post pictures of your own colouring, your kids’ colouring, or that of anyone you know and have permission to share. This is a month-long prompt, which means you have all of December to link back here.
I was too busy to post mid-month reminder–that’s my story and I’m sticking to it–so I’ll link to the posts of the participants from last month below. I think we had a record number of participants! Must be the weather. 🙂 Be sure to check them all out!
Here’s the before picture of my November calendar page:
And here are bits of the after. (Click for a closer look.)
The only pencil I used is for the skin.
Because I knew with NaNoWriMo I wasn’t going to have a lot of time to colour, I decided to use all markers, except for the fairies’ skin. Markers are indeed much faster to colour with! Much brighter, too.
Here’s the whole thing.
I look forward to seeing all of your wonderful projects throughout the coming month!
Please find the “rules” below.

This is a month-long prompt, which means you have all of November to link back here.
The mid-month reminder managed to get forgotten again, so I’ll link to the posts of the participants from last month, below. Be sure to check them out!
Here’s my calendar page from November. The before:

I used mostly coloured pencils for this one. I’m quite pleased with how it turned out.
I look forward to seeing all of your wonderful projects throughout the coming month!

I made it! Your Escapist Coloring Club prompt is here! If you’d like to join the club, all you have to do is post pictures of your own colouring, your kids’ colouring, or that of anyone you know and have permission to share. This is a month-long prompt, which means you have all of October to link back here.
I missed the mid-month reminder, yet again. So here are the participants from last month with links to their posts. Be sure to check them out!
And here are bits of the after. (Click for a closer look.) I took pictures of this one before I coloured in the background and after, because I wasn’t convinced I was going to like it. See what the camera did to the colours when I changed the background?
The pink in this is true to life.
It changed to purple with the black background
I used coloured pencils exclusively, except for the black, which is marker. Which to you like better? I’m still not sure. Though I am quite pleased with how the black turned out.
I look forward to seeing all of your wonderful projects throughout the coming month!

Hi there! A day late and quite possibly a dollar short, but your Escapist Coloring Club prompt is finally here. If you’d like to join the club, all you have to do is post pictures of your own colouring, your kids’ colouring, or that of anyone you know and have permission to share. This is a month-long prompt, which means you have all of September to link back here.
I missed the August mid-month reminder. So here are all the participants from last month with links to their posts. Be sure to check them out!
And here are bits of the after. (Click for a closer look.) Apart from the mouse and the girl, I did this entirely in marker.
And here’s the entire thing. I came so close to getting it finished–I was even going to colour the background with a sunset–but the last half of the month with Alex home from camp made it impossible to work on it.
I look forward to seeing all of your wonderful projects throughout the coming month!

Can you believe summer’s half over already? Like, seriously, where has the time gone? Anyway, it’s the first of August, and that means it’s time for The Escapist Coloring Club prompt. If you’d like to join the club, all you have to do is post pictures of your own colouring, your kids’ colouring, or that of anyone you know and have permission to share. This is a month-long prompt, which means you have all of August to link back here.
I not only missed out on getting my calendar page finished, I missed the July mid-month reminder. So here are all the participants from July with links to their posts. Be sure to check them out!
And here are bits of the after. (Click for a closer look.)
And here’s the entire thing, unfinished because I’ve just been too busy.
I look forward to seeing all of your wonderful projects throughout the coming month!

It’s the first of July! Happy Canada Day to all my fellow Canadians worldwide reading this! And being the first of the month, that means it’s time for The Escapist Coloring Club prompt. If you’d like to join the club, all you have to do is post pictures of your own colouring, your kids’ colouring, or that of anyone you know and have permission to share. This is a month-long prompt, which means you have all of July to link back here.
I changed my mind a couple of times on the colours for this June’s calendar page. If I’ve ever had a project that should have been symmetrical, this one was it. I failed … but I don’t care! It was fun to colour.
Here’s the before.
And here are bits of the after. (Click for a closer look.)
And here’s the entire thing. I think I like the left side better than the right. What do you think?
I look forward to seeing all of your wonderful projects throughout the coming month!

It occurred to me the other day that the books I listen to seem to affect my colouring. For instance, I added the sombre colours of the birds when listening to a story of Nazi Germany (The Nightingale–great book!).
I started this month listening to Neil Patrick Harris’s amazing Choose your own Autobiography. Here’s a sneak peek. Go figure.
If you would like to participate in this prompt, feel free to use the “One-Liner Wednesday” title in your post, and if you do, you can ping back here to help your blog get more exposure. To execute a pingback, just copy the URL in the address bar on this post, and paste it somewhere in the body of your post. Your link will show up in the comments below. Please ensure that the One-Liner Wednesday you’re pinging back to is this week’s! Otherwise, no one will likely see it but me.
NOTE: Pingbacks only work from WordPress sites. If you’re self-hosted or are participating from another host, like Blogger, please leave a link to your post in the comments below.
As with Stream of Consciousness Saturday (SoCS), if you see a pingback from someone else in my comment section, click and have a read. It’s bound to be short and sweet.
Unlike SoCS, this is not a prompt so there’s no need to stick to the same “theme.”
The rules that I’ve made for myself (but don’t always follow) for “One-Liner Wednesday” are:
1. Make it one sentence.
2. Try to make it either funny or inspirational.
3. Use our unique tag #1linerWeds.
4. Add our brand new badge to your post for extra exposure!
It’s the middle of June already, so here’s your mid-month reminder to get colouring! You’ll find the links for the two bloggers who have participated already this month below. Make sure you check them out! I’ll turn off the comments in this post and redirect you to the June 1st prompt to link your entries there, if you haven’t already posted. Or if you have, feel free to leave another link!
Here’s what I’m working on this month. I’m half-way through it, so I should have it all coloured in by July 1st.
I’m loving the fact that I can listen to an audiobook while I work. I just finished Neil Patrick Harris’s Choose Your Own Autobiography. So funny. I enjoyed it thoroughly. Here’s the link, if you’re interested in buying it. I highly suggest listening rather than reading. https://www.amazon.com/dp/0385347014
Anyhoo, back to colouring.

I’m not entirely happy with the result of my May colouring project. I did most of it whilst listening to an audiobook. Not sure if that had anything to do with my apparently crazy choices for colours, but to me it lacks coherency. I like the closeups better than the big picture. But hey, not every project can be a winner. And I still enjoyed the escape I had while I worked on it, so I win!!
Here’s the before.
