It’s Friday, and time for your Stream of Consciousness Saturday prompt. Though the weather here hasn’t been bad this year — we’ve had few snowfalls and no really cold -40 days — I’m looking forward to weather that’s warm enough to sit on the deck and read a book. …okay, what I really want is a beach and palm trees right about now. Who’s with me?
Anyway, here’s your prompt for this week:
Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “so/sow/sew.” Use one, use ’em all, use ’em any way you’d like. Bonus points if you start and end with any of them. Enjoy!
After you’ve written your Saturday post tomorrow, please link it here at this week’s prompt page and check to make sure it’s here in the comments so others can find it and see your awesome Stream of Consciousness post. Anyone can join in!
To make your post more visible, use our SoCS badge! Just paste it in your Saturday post so people browsing the reader will immediately know your post is stream of consciousness and/or pin it as a widget to your site to show you’re a participant. Wear it with pride!!
Here are the rules:
1. Your post must be stream of consciousness writing, meaning no editing, (typos can be fixed) and minimal planning on what you’re going to write.
2. Your post can be as long or as short as you want it to be. One sentence – one thousand words. Fact, fiction, poetry – it doesn’t matter. Just let the words carry you along until you’re ready to stop.
3. There will be a prompt every week. I will post the prompt here on my blog on Friday, along with a reminder for you to join in. The prompt will be one random thing, but it will not be a subject. For instance, I will not say “Write about dogs”; the prompt will be more like, “Make your first sentence a question,” “Begin with the word ‘The’,” or simply a single word to get your started.
4. Ping back! It’s important, so that I and other people can come and read your post! For example, in your post you can write “This post is part of SoCS:” and then copy and paste the URL found in your address bar at the top of this post into yours. Your link will show up in my comments for everyone to see. The most recent pingbacks will be found at the top. NOTE: Pingbacks only work from WordPress sites. If you’re self-hosted or are participating from another host, such as Blogger, please leave a link to your post in the comments below.
5. Read at least one other person’s blog who has linked back their post. Even better, read everyone’s! If you’re the first person to link back, you can check back later, or go to the previous week, by following my category, “Stream of Consciousness Saturday,” which you’ll find right below the “Like” button on my post.
6. Copy and paste the rules (if you’d like to) in your post. The more people who join in, the more new bloggers you’ll meet and the bigger your community will get!
7. As a suggestion, tag your post “SoCS” and/or “#SoCS” for more exposure and more views.
8. Have fun!

Here’s mine. Late, and very short, because a sentence popped into my head. I think Trip is supposed to be saying it, but I don’t know why, exactly….so stay tuned, in case he decides to tell me!

https://45ragestreet.org/2017/02/11/socs-sorority-sister-in-law/ I don’t understand how all these people are doing “pingbacks”. I’m using WordPress but I need to find a step by step instructions somewhere. Everytime I go to their instruction page, I follow the rules, and my post does not look like all these pingback ones. I am so jealous;) Anyway, I enjoyed writing this piece more than any other. If it gets back to my family, there’s gonna be an, uh, “issue,” but I don’t care. Writing is therapeutic:))

Copy and paste what’s in the address bar on Linda’s prompt post, directly in your post. It will create the ping back. I was unsuccessful the first time I did it because I wasn’t actually on her prompt page. I was reading her prompt, but it was her homepage which had all of her posts on it. Once I realized I had to actually click on the title of her prompt to get it on it’s own page, then copying and pasting what was in the address bar worked

In the body. I put mine down at the bottom, below my story. It you should be pasting https://lindaghill.com/2017/02/10/the-friday-reminder-and-prompt-for-socs-feb-1117/ for this particular prompt. Once you paste it, it switches itself from the “https….” to a hyperlink.

It’s something a lot of people have trouble with. It’s easy once you know how, but so difficult to explain.

Well, I just shoveled out from the blizzard we had yesterday, and lost electricity for 24 hours (no heat, either)…and another nor easter is on it’s way for Monday. So, yeah…I’m down for some palm trees with you, girl.
