One-Liner Wednesday – I’m Baffled

Why would they hang red dresses from the trees around an Anglican church? Am I missing something?

If you would like to participate in this prompt, feel free to use the “One-Liner Wednesday” title in your post, and if you do, you can ping back here to help your blog get more exposure. To execute a pingback, just copy the URL in the address bar on this post, and paste it somewhere in the body of your post. Your link will show up in the comments below. Please ensure that the One-Liner Wednesday you’re pinging back to is this week’s! Otherwise, no one will likely see it but me.

NOTE: Pingbacks only work from WordPress sites. If you’re self-hosted or are participating from another host, like Blogger, please leave a link to your post in the comments below.

As with Stream of Consciousness Saturday (SoCS), if you see a pingback from someone else in my comment section, click and have a read. It’s bound to be short and sweet.

Unlike SoCS, this is not a prompt so there’s no need to stick to the same “theme.”

The rules that I’ve made for myself (but don’t always follow) for “One-Liner Wednesday” are:

1. Make it one sentence.

2. Try to make it either funny or inspirational.

3. Use our unique tag #1linerWeds.

4. Add our very cool brand new badge to your post for extra exposure!

5. Have fun!

  1. Ha,ha. Something is not right there. 😀 Reminds me of an English mystery like Father Brown. 😀

  2. A very strange sight indeed, but after having read the comments, I now understand why.

  3. I am happy to see that the dresses are being noticed, especially in light of Canada’s abysmal work so far in the national inquiry for the missing and murdered Indigenous women. I wrote why those dresses are hanging in public spaces a couple of years ago ( https://blog-woman.com/2015/10/03/the-redress-project/ ) …

The REDress project, created by Métis artist Jaime Black, highlights the issue of the missing & murdered Indigenous women in Canada. Each dress represents a woman who is missing or was murdered.

  12. Oooh, I know know, I know! Pentecost is coming! Anglicans (in my case, Episcopalians) traditionally wear red on the first day of Pentecost, which I thought was next week. I bet this is a reminder to wear red. It’s supposed to represent the fire of the holy spirit or something like that. Though orange would remind me more of fire…

  15. I don’t know why they would hang one in a tree, but red is the color in the Episcopal Church for Pentecost. But, I think that’s June 4th. Some churches encourage the congregation to wear red, but hang in a tree? I got nothin’
