It’s official—I’m having my 3rd-best year of all time already … and I’m not happy about it.

Photo: Screenshot of my “Insights” stats for 2026 with 2025 for comparison. My realistic month of January last year had 6.9K views on my blog. This year the bots exploded the number to 59K.
If you would like to participate in this prompt, feel free to use the “One-Liner Wednesday” title in your post, and if you do, you can ping back here to help your blog get more exposure. To execute a pingback, just copy the URL in the address bar on this post, and paste it somewhere in the body of your post. Your link will show up in the comments below. Please ensure that the One-Liner Wednesday you’re pinging back to is this week’s! Otherwise, no one will likely see it but me.
NOTE: Pingbacks only work from WordPress sites. If you’re self-hosted or are participating from another host, please leave a link to your post in the comments below.
As with Stream of Consciousness Saturday (SoCS), if you see a pingback from someone else in my comment section, click and have a read. It’s bound to be short and sweet.
Unlike SoCS, this is not a prompt so there’s no need to stick to the same “theme.”
The rules that I’ve made for myself (but don’t always follow) for “One-Liner Wednesday” are:
1. Make it one sentence.
2. Try to make it either funny or inspirational.
3. Use our unique tag #1linerWeds.
4. Add our lovely badge to your post for extra exposure!
5. Have fun!

I agree. I hate bots too! What a nuisance.
Well, here’s my contribution for this week… https://brendasrandomthoughts.wordpress.com/2026/02/05/one-liner-wednesday-first-words-yum/

Those bots are surely working overtime. I refuse to believe they can’t find a way to weed those out.

I received almost 71k views this past October, mostly from Chinese bots. I took my blog private for the month of Novemer. When I came back public in December, my blog received 128k views, mostly bots. By last month views were down to 10k and so far this month I have averaged only 340 views a day. Probably 1/3 to 1/2 of those are bots.

I am not a robot! I had one month last year that was off the charts. I haven’t looked yet this year. Look at the bright side, you might be influencing the future of artificial intelligence.

The bots tend to hit me at the beginning of the month, so I see a huge swell, followed by a gigantic trough. It’s irritating.

Linda, Yes, I am having the same problem. The bots have latched unto one older post in particular and bombarded me with hits. At first I was elated; then I realized they were only fake stats. Ugh! Thank you for bringing this up.

Congratulations, Linda, on your blog success!!
I have a love-hate relationship with AI…(is “bot” his last name?😉) I don’t really trust him, but I keep pretending I do, in hopes everything “tech-related” will continue working.
Hope you are well, and keeping warm!!😊
