Prompt Me Part 4 – #JusJoJan 2020

Week of January 26 – 31, 2020

I’m looking for prompt words for Just Jot it January! This is your chance to inspire other people and have your blog linked to the Daily Prompt post.

I’ve decided to do this weekly this year. I only need 5 prompt words today–if you miss getting your word in on this post, your next chance will be in 2021. So don’t miss it this week!

Read the rules carefully! I need 5 single words to use in the Just Jot It January challenge, for January 26th through to the 31st inclusive. This is how you can be included:

  • The first 5 comments on this post that include a single word will be the prompts for the first full week of January. These prompts will go up on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. I’ll take care of One-Liner Wednesday and Stream of Consciousness Saturday myself.  If you write more than one word in your comment, for example, “My word is antidisestablishmentarianism,” I’ll ignore it. Same thing if you try to slip in two, even in two different comments–I’ll only accept the first. If I get the same word twice, I’ll only accept the first person who got to it. If you’re the second, feel free to try again. And please, remember this is a relatively G-rated blog, so nothing too risque.
  • I’ll link back to the blog of whomever gives me a prompt on the day I use it.
  • Make sure you get your comment in early. You don’t want to miss out!
  • Please don’t bother entering a prompt if your blog is inactive or if it exists only to sell things. If you haven’t posted in over a month and you’re only looking for clicks, your prompt word will be rejected. If, on the other hand, you’re planning to use JusJoJan to inspire you to get back into the swing of things, let me know immediately in a second comment — NOT the one you give your prompt word in. Remember, that’s ONE word only. If I can’t find a reasonable number of posts written in the last month that aren’t trying to sell a product, your prompt word will be rejected.
  • I observed a few years ago that many of our prompt words were negative in nature. I found they didn’t do as well as the more positive words. I don’t want to limit you, but please keep in mind that if your word is on the sadder or angrier side, your prompt may not get as much participation.
  • If you provide a prompt, I encourage you to join in as much as possible throughout the month.
  • Only one prompt per person for the month. If you get in this week, don’t try again next week.
  • NOTE: Please count the number of correct (one word only) comments ahead of yours. If there are already 5, save yours for January next week!

Please see the “Rules” post for a complete list of the prompt words. I’ll populate it as the words come in. Here’s the link in case you missed it: https://lindaghill.com/2019/12/31/just-jot-it-january-2020-the-rules/

Okay. Are you ready? Aaaaand… prompt! One word!

Concerning Just Jot it January 2020

I’m working on organizing this year’s JuJoJan. If you’re not familiar with what that is, there will be a post soon with all the details, the rules, and what you can expect if you’d like to join in.

The real purpose of this post is to let you know that my area is expecting 20-30mm of freezing rain overnight and mixtures of rain and snow all the way up to 6pm on Tuesday. The possibility of losing power is so great, I’m planning to schedule a bunch of posts to last the blog through ’til Saturday.

These will include:

1. The Rules post for Just Jot it January 2020, scheduled for December 31st.

2. One-Liner Wednesday/JusJoJan Day 1.

3. The Escapist Coloring Club Prompt January 1st.

4. The JusJoJan prompt for Thursday (Day 2).

5. Same for Day 3 plus the Friday SoCS prompt, which will also be the JusJoJan prompt for Day 4.

6. The request for JusJoJan prompts for the week starting January 5th–I’ll post that on Saturday the 4th without scheduling it.

In the event that I don’t show up online, I’d appreciate it if those of you who have participated in JusJoJan before would help those with questions. If I lose my power, I’ll try to at least get word out. Watch my Instagram feed @linda.g.hill as it will likely be easier to post there than anywhere. It’s the only app I have on my phone.

If, for some reason, I’m not back by Saturday, just link your posts to the December 31st Rules post and write whatever you want since there won’t be any prompts. And if I don’t lose my power, at least I’ll have all that done in advance!

Any questions, let me know. Watch for the Rules post first thing December 31st! All posts will be scheduled for 2am EST except the Friday SoCS prompt and the Coloring prompt, which will go out as usual at 9:30am EST.

Prompt Me Part 1 – JusJoJan 2019

Hey, all! I’m finally getting around to asking you for prompt words to help us finish off Just Jot it January in style! This is your chance to inspire other people and have your blog linked back on the day of your prompt.

I’ve decided to do this in two parts. I’m only asking for 11 prompt words today–if you miss getting your word in on this post, you’ll have another chance on Thursday, January 17th.

What I need is 11 single words to use in the Just Jot It January challenge, for January 4th through to the 18th. Read the rules carefully! This is how you can be included:

  • The first 11 comments on this post that include a single word will be the prompts for the first two weeks in January that I won’t be writing my own prompts (aka One-Liner Wednesday and Stream of Consciousness Saturday).
  • I observed a couple of years ago that many of our prompt words were negative in nature. I found they didn’t do as well as the more positive words. I don’t want to limit you, but please keep in mind that if your word is on the sadder or angrier side, your prompt may not get as much participation.
  • If you provide a prompt, I encourage you to join in as much as possible throughout the month.
  • NOTE: Because I’m doing this in two parts, please count the number of correct (one word only) comments ahead of yours. If there are already 11, save yours for January 17th!

Please see the “Rules” post for a complete list of the prompt words. I’ll populate it as the words come in. Here’s the link in case you missed it: https://lindaghill.com/2018/12/31/what-is-just-jot-it-january-2019-rules/

Okay. Are you ready? Aaaaand… prompt! One word!

(Edit: comments are closed. Thanks to all who put in their words! Watch out for part two on Thursday the 17th for another chance!)

So, about those prompts …

Do you remember a couple of months back I created a poll to see when the best time to do another month’s-worth of prompts might be? And it was decided August would be a good month? Well guess what?

I have the prompts all lined up and ready to go, and I know just how I’m going to organize it, but …

I really don’t think I’m going to have the time nor the energy to pull it off. My new book comes out on the 10th, and about a week after that we’ll be looking for a new SoCS badge. And all that on top of having the child home for three out of four and a half weeks.

So, how does October sound to you instead? Good?

Did you even remember that I was going to post prompts every day in August?

If not, just ignore this post. And you might get a surprise come October 1st. 😉
