Here are the rules:

1. Your post must be stream of consciousness writing, meaning no editing (typos can be fixed), and minimal planning on what you’re going to write.

2. Your post can be as long or as short as you want it to be. One sentence – one thousand words. Fact, fiction, poetry – it doesn’t matter. Just let the words carry you along until you’re ready to stop.

3. I will post the prompt here on my blog every Friday, along with a reminder for you to join in. The prompt will be one random thing, but it will not be a particular subject. For instance, I will not say “Write about dogs”; the prompt will be more like, “Make your first sentence a question,” “Begin with the word ‘The,’” or will simply be a single word to get you started.

4. Ping back! It’s important, so that I and other people can come and read your post! For example, in your post you can write “This post is part of SoCS:” and then copy and paste the URL found in your address bar at the top of this post into yours.  Your link will show up in my comments for everyone to see. 6. Copy and paste the rules (if you’d like to) in your post. The more people who join in, the more new bloggers you’ll meet and the bigger your community will get!

7. As a suggestion, tag your post “SoCS” and/or “#SoCS” for more exposure and more views.

#SoCS – What I’ve got

The bulk of what I’ve got is time.

And work.

And procrastination.

They take up all my time.

They fill me up until my head explodes.

But it’s weird; I can’t do nothing. I used to be able to do nothing, once upon a time. I could sit and just stare out the window, or listen to music and just daydream.

Daydreaming, I guess, has become my job. My daydreams go on paper to be shared.

Does that mean I keep none of my daydreams to myself?

No.

Because some daydreams shouldn’t be shared.

And some are just too big and don’t feel like they’d fit in the world outside of my head.

They’re way too bulky.

#SoCS – I don’t believe it

I have to preface this by saying I’ve never actually tried it.

Or maybe I have, but if so, I was too young to remember it now.

But I refuse to believe that a spoonful of sugar would help the medicine go down.

I’m, like, imagining popping a Tylenol into my mouth and trying to wash it down with sugar.

It would be so … dry!

Don’t you think?

Either way, not helpful in the slightest.

JusJoJan25 & #SoCS the 25th – In line

This post is part of Just Jot it January and my weekly prompt, Stream of Consciousness Saturday. Find the prompt and see how you can join in HERE.

You’d think that with solid goals and the steps to reach them, going after what you want and getting there would be easy. Assuming all the steps are reachable, of course.

So why is it so hard to get our desires in line with our goals? Assuming desires and goals are the same …?

Okay, let me break this down.

If I desire a cake.

My goal is getting to the store to get my cake.

The steps required are digging the car out of the driveway, clearing the snow off it, driving safely to the store and back home again with the cake.

But what if I don’t want to dig the car out?

That gets in the way of my goal, which keeps me from what I desire.

Right?

So my desires and my goal are out of line with each other.

That took a lot of brain.

And now I want cake.

Damn it.

JusJoJan25 & #SoCS the 18th – Packing it in

This post is part of Just Jot it January and my weekly prompt, Stream of Consciousness Saturday. Find the prompt and see how you can join in HERE.

Well, my laptop is starting to sound like it’s going to pack it in again. And today it got hot enough that I had to turn it off.

But how am I going to pick another computer that will serve me as well as this one has?

I’ve thought about buying a Mac.

But that sounds too much like having to relearn things I no longer have to think about.

But enough whining about technology.

I need prompts!

Go here and give me one if you’re planning to join in on the rest of Just Jot it January. Or if you’ve been participating up ’til now.

I’m making a list of people who have already submitted prompts this month in case I don’t get ten from bloggers who haven’t already done so.

I’ll start on that list at 10am Sunday (tomorrow).

Peck pock puck.

Yes, I cheated. *runs away with the bonus points*

This sneaky post is part of Just Jot it January and SoCS! Want to join in? Just click here to get to the prompt and drop your link. It’s fun!

JusJoJan25 & #SoCS the 11th – It’s the little things

This post is part of Just Jot it January and my weekly prompt, Stream of Consciousness Saturday. Find the prompt and see how you can join in HERE.

It’s the little things …

A row of knitting on top of a row of knitting that eventually makes a blanket.

A piece of paper I no longer need shredded and put out for recycling.

A word on my blog that leads to the next.

Without the little things, I’d never wrap my head around the idea that I can get the big things done.

Problem is, there’s always another big thing waiting to get done.

Still, I like the idea of the little things.

It’s the little things that make me happy.

This little post is part of Just Jot it January and SoCS! Want to join in? Just click here to get to the prompt and drop your link. It’s fun!
