Review – 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami

1Q84 (1Q84, #1-3)1Q84 by Haruki Murakami
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

1Q84 was a long, drawn out science fiction tale, seemingly full of extraneous information. The depth of its characters was its saving grace. I’m not sure that I would recommend it for anything but for the experience of reading it. I’m not sure how else to describe it.

Not my favourite Murakami novel, and certainly not the last of his that I’ll read.

  1. I have this one on by TBR shelf, so I will probably end up reading it at some point… I haven’t read any of his work so far; would you recommend reading a different novel as an introduction to his work?

  2. I loved 1Q84. It is long winded, but it’s still one of my favorites.

  3. Thanks for this review! I just started wind up bird and was curious about 1Q84.

  4. I couldn’t agree more. This book was about 300 pages too long. If you haven’t already, check out Wind-Up Bird or Kafka on the shore. They’re his finest.

Also, if you’re ever interested in some other awesome book reviews and musings, be sure to follow! Thanks!
