We all make choices for ourselves. Every day, every hour, every minute. Do I get up, or lay in bed five more minutes, what do I eat, what should I buy with the little bit of money I have, what to say, what should I do with my time? Sometimes these choices are hard, many times we make them out of habit. But you know which choices I really hate making?
What to choose for somebody else. I’m sure it’s why I hate Christmas shopping. It’s not the crowds, the parking lots, or the expense… Okay, it’s also the expense. But deciding what somebody else is going to like, want or need is so much harder than buying for myself. And that’s difficult enough.
I think my personal hardest choice is what to do with my time. There are days when I have so little that I have to prioritize by logic, doing the things that absolutely must be done first, and there are days when I suddenly have lots of time… Then I start looking at my non-priority tasks and have to decide where to start. Which is where I begin to procrastinate, because choosing what to do first is just too overwhelming. So I end up on Facebook, reading about what’s going on with the US election (talk about choices!) (I’m not going to know what to do with myself when it’s finished) (where was I? Oh yeah, Facebook) or finding cool writing or publishing tips to read about, or silly memes to giggle over, not to mention the little movies that start automatically now – why do they do that to us?!? They’re too irresistible, like the snack aisle in the grocery store when you go shopping whilst hungry.
Today I chose to go to the library, to get a little work done on my novel while the babysitter was here. It was a good choice, since it didn’t cost me any money… except the book I bought at the library’s fundraising store. Ugh.
What good choices have you made today?

What a great post, Linda! Honestly, I often feel that my choices choose themselves and I am just hoping along for a ride. Even when it comes to food, clothes or books – I don’t remember actively picking one. (maybe the instincts take over a lot often than thinking?)
P.S. I am consciously making a choice of following the presidential election and facepalming.

Ha! It’s a real nose-squasher, isn’t it? 😛
I wish my choices would choose themselves sometimes! I’ll have to ask you for tips on how you do that. Haha! Thanks for stopping by, Prajakta. 🙂

I really enjoyed this post, Linda. I too never know what to choose for people when Christmas shopping. However, today I made the choice to make a little dress for one of my great-nieces. It ended up only taking a couple of hours and I loved doing it. 🙂

Sounds lovely! I wish I could sew more proficiently. I used to knit all the time, but I haven’t picked up a set of needles in at least 15 years.

I think I have a lifetime average of good vs. bad choices of 49% and 51% respectively.

Hahaha, deciding to partake in #SoCS. That’s a choice I’m pretty happy I made… I also made the choice recently to sever all ties I had with the guy I liked. Okay, to be fair… I made that decision a long time ago. But, only recently have I managed to follow through with it! 😊
Thanks Linda,
– Ainsworth, 🙂 Xx
P.S. As always I totally loved this post! 😊

Well, it definitely was a necessary one. And I’m not gonna lie, it is sad. But, in order to get to all the happiness that lies ahead. I know that I have to let him go. He’s held me back for far too long and it’s just got to stop.
I too am glad! I found it fun to write that post! And I’m definitely looking forward to the next one! 🙂
Thanks,

I’m having a huge problem with choices at the moment too. Sometimes I just feel like forgetting all the obvious ones and doing something completely new and different.

My sister is a procrastinater. I’m not…most of the time. But when there are things to do that we really don’t want to start, we both have the same motto: “I’ll cross that bridge when it burns behind me.” 🙂

I have a terribly difficult time with choices. Sometimes my hubby takes a step back so I’m forced to practice (especially choosing for others!), but there are days when I look at him and say seriously, I just can’t, YOU CHOOSE. Today my best choice was to step out and take a nap when I needed it. 🙂

Well you could be describing a lot of my life. When I have so much free time I am reading tons of stuff online. All the online newspapers and websites that I like and other interesting articles I stumble upon. I think I read so much because I really do need the intellectual stimulation. 🙂

Good choices today? Hm. Well, I chose to go work at my part-time job for a couple hours this morning. I chose to get McDonald’s for lunch. Chose to get a cute black cat Halloween t-shirt at Walmart. Chose to relax by watching a few anime videos online after doing my SoCS post. And now I’m trying to choose what to fix for dinner.

McDonald’s does not equal a good choice. I know – I went there for dinner. 😛 hehe.
Do we get to see a picture of the t-shirt? 😀

Well, ok, maybe McD’s wasn’t the best choice, but it was ok and I was hungry and had a coupon 😀 Here’s the t-shirt 😀 https://goo.gl/photos/CgHuCJEh5e82iB2f8
