I had my best friend and his son over for dinner at Christmas for the first time in three years, and I didn’t know what to do with myself. A bit of social paralysis going on, I think.
But I’m not broken. I’m just temporarily out of order. I’ll be fine.
Didn’t help that I’m on antibiotics and not allowed to drink…
If you would like to participate in this prompt, feel free to use the “One-Liner Wednesday” title in your post, and if you do, you can ping back here to help your blog get more exposure. To execute a pingback, just copy the URL in the address bar on this post, and paste it somewhere in the body of your post. Your link will show up in the comments below. Please ensure that the One-Liner Wednesday you’re pinging back to is this week’s! Otherwise, no one will likely see it but me.
NOTE: Pingbacks only work from WordPress sites. If you’re self-hosted or are participating from another host, like Blogger, please leave a link to your post in the comments below.
As with Stream of Consciousness Saturday (SoCS), if you see a pingback from someone else in my comment section, click and have a read. It’s bound to be short and sweet.
Unlike SoCS, this is not a prompt so there’s no need to stick to the same “theme.”
The rules that I’ve made for myself (but don’t always follow) for “One-Liner Wednesday” are:
1. Make it one sentence.
2. Try to make it either funny or inspirational.
3. Use our unique tag #1linerWeds.
4. Add our lovely badge to your post for extra exposure!
5. Have fun!

People skills can easily get rusty when they don’t come naturally. I kinda liked not socializing in person. But I suspect that, like physical exercise, socializing in moderation good for us. Good for you for making the effort!

Yeah, I was quite happy to not have to go out and all that. Thanks, JoAnna! 🙂

Sometimes being an introvert can be a blessing.

Hope you heal up soon! And, well, I’m so out of practice of having folks around to ask questions, try to include me in the conversations that flow when family get’s together once a year? I managed to completely get distracted, and mess up the gravy – so, well – it was a merry christmas dinner….lumpy gravy and all….sigh – Just not sure if my love of solitude will wane in face of the need to make good gravy AND keep 4 different conversations going all at once, for next year – but – I got a year to try and ‘practice’ – LOL

If it makes you feel any better, I read a few articles a while back that reported that a huge number of people are experiencing “I forget how to be around people now! It has been so long!” syndrome. (Frankly, as an introvert, I’ve *always* had that issue!) A big pat on your back for your effort! Sorry you’re on antibiotics, and hope you feel better soon. ♥

Good effort. Movement in the right direction. Too bad about the antibiotics, (I always want to cheat) but hopefully you’ll be back in good working order soon.

No way I could have cheated—both the doctor and the pharmacist told me in no uncertain terms that alcohol will make me very sick on this one. I should be able to drink on New Year’s Eve. Yay!

just takes a bit of practice, like getting back on your bike after a few years of it just sitting in the garage
