I’m sitting at my desk in front of my laptop, drinking my coffee and staring at a blank page. Okay, not quite blank, because it now has two sentences on it.
Hmm.
When I’m writing a story, I often launch into it with no idea what’s going to come out. What’s going to flow from my fingertips. That’s why I love stream of consciousness writing so much, I guess. It comes natural to me.
Far more natural than, say, speaking.
If I’m faced with talking about something? If I don’t know what to say, I usually end up saying something stupid. Something that plays on repeat in my head, making me want to slap myself.
Why is it always the stupid things you say that you remember most often?
Or maybe it’s just me.
Hmm.

Nope, Linda, not just you. The things that should never have been said, the acts that should have never been done, the things you wish you could erase….those are the things that seem to replay on an endless loop. I wish we could easily replace them with the better moments!

If only it were possible to just click over to another video in our heads, eh?

We are out own worst critics, we are best at it who have loud critiques from toddlerhood. I try to be louder with my accomplishments hoping to drown out that noise. It works sometimes.💜

I’m not sure if that comforts me as much as it makes me sad. But thanks for letting me know, Wendy. 🙂

But its those seeming stupid thoughts that can create some of the greatest ideas. Keep plugging on.

I was very much like this – regretting my faux pas but now I get over them quickly.

I can usually get over them quickly. It’s the way they randomly come back to haunt me … 👻

I thought I was the only one who did that
I also love writing better than talking. I say something stupid, too.

Writing is definitely a better way to communicate, I think. But for some reason, people don’t like it when I pass them notes in public. 😒😂

I’m not too bad with typing something, anything, but I mess everything up when I have to speak on the phone, or even at the drive thru fast food places. 🙂

Right? The one that gets me is when I’ve been on hold so long I forget what I was calling for. Haha!

It’s not just you, Linda. Research not that long ago caused me to discover “negativity bias,” which is the reason we remember bad things more than good ones.
