One-Liner Wednesday – Why?

I’m frustrated that the things on my to-do list don’t just get done. They’ve been there so long, they should have lives of their own already.

If you would like to participate in this prompt, feel free to use the “One-Liner Wednesday” title in your post, and if you do, you can ping back here to help your blog get more exposure. To execute a pingback, just copy the URL in the address bar on this post, and paste it somewhere in the body of your post. Your link will show up in the comments below. Please ensure that the One-Liner Wednesday you’re pinging back to is this week’s! Otherwise, no one will likely see it but me.

NOTE: Pingbacks only work from WordPress sites. If you’re self-hosted or are participating from another host, please leave a link to your post in the comments below.

As with Stream of Consciousness Saturday (SoCS), if you see a pingback from someone else in my comment section, click and have a read. It’s bound to be short and sweet.

Unlike SoCS, this is not a prompt so there’s no need to stick to the same “theme.”

The rules that I’ve made for myself (but don’t always follow) for “One-Liner Wednesday” are:

1. Make it one sentence.

2. Try to make it either funny or inspirational.

3. Use our unique tag #1linerWeds.

4. Add our lovely badge to your post for extra exposure!

5. Have fun!

Whenever possible, I try to break those items down into smaller steps, like taking the vacuum cleaner out of the closet. Unfortunately, this runs the risk of having the vacuum cleaner wait in the hallway for days.

I tend to just move them to the next day if that happens and then sometimes they become obsolete

I do love “to do” lists, but I can relate to what you’re saying, for sure! Here’s my one-line for this week: https://brendasrandomthoughts.wordpress.com/2026/03/18/one-liner-wednesday-the-art-of-observation/
    Thank you for hosting, Linda!

Sometimes you just have to start a new list and accept some things are just not meant to get done. Or break them down into smaller tasks – taking the first step can be the hardest but once it’s done it’s often easier to make progress. Good luck.

Boy, do I get this. I started putting them on my calendar and the number of times I just bump them to the following week is both frustrating and depressing.

I love your opening 2 sentences, Linda! I’m guessing some to-do’s DO have a life of their own, so they wander off somewhere. But the good news is that, if they’re Not crucial to maintaining life and/or sanity, we can just wave goodbye to ’em. I’m keeping you and your family in my prayers–God bless you abundantly!💖
