The Escapist Coloring Club – mid-month April 2018

Okay, I’m way off the middle of the month, but I still want to remind everyone that there’s still time to link your colouring project to the monthly prompt. You can find it here. The comments in this post are turned off to ensure all pingbacks go to the original post.

We only have one entrant in the comment section this month so far. If you’ve completed a project but haven’t added your link, please do it soon. Our one and only colouring project this month comes from Colline. You can find her post here: https://collinesblog.com/2018/04/12/monster-colouring/

Colouring is fun and relaxing. I hope you’ll join us!

The Escapist Coloring Club Prompt – April 1, 2018

Hello, colourers and lovers of pretty pictures! It’s time for this month’s Escapist Coloring Club prompt For this prompt, I encourage you to post pictures of your own colouring, your kids’ colouring, or that of anyone you know and have permission to share. That’s all you have to do to join the club.

As always, my own project is my colouring calendar. I wasn’t sure I liked this one before I started, but I’m quite happy with the end result. Here you’ll see that I forgot to take a picture of it before I coloured the first of the leaves, but I remembered before I got too far:

But once I got started, I found I liked it more and more.

I find using markers and pencils together creates a nice texture. I wish I could just stick with the pencils! So many gorgeous shades.

I’m looking forward to April’s colouring and to seeing all of your amazing projects!

The Escapist Coloring Club Prompt – February 1, 2018

It’s hard to believe it’s been a month since our first Escapist Coloring Club prompt! For this prompt, I encourage you to post pictures of your own colouring, your kids’ colouring, or that of anyone you know and have permission to share. That’s all you have to do to join the club.

You might recognize part of my project for this month. I took a closeup of some of the flowers in this, my January 2018 calendar picture, for the Coloring Club badge. I started it before I took the first photo of it, so it’s partially completed in my “before” picture.

It was fun deciding which colours to use for all the leaves. I didn’t have very many shades of markers to choose from, so I ended up with a combination of markers and pencils. All from the dollar store. The final picture isn’t very good, but if you look really closely, you’ll see I coloured the word “January” too.

I’m looking forward to February’s colouring and to seeing all of your amazing projects!

The Escapist Coloring Club Prompt – January 1, 2018

Welcome to the first ever Escapist Coloring Club prompt! For this prompt, I encourage you to post pictures of your own colouring, your kids’ colouring, or that of anyone you know and have permission to share. That’s all you have to do to join the club.

For my own posts, I have a new colouring calendar, which gives me a new project to work on every month. I plan to take a “before” picture to post next month, so I can show both the uncoloured version and the coloured one.

This month all I have to show you is my December 2017 calendar fully coloured.

I decided not to colour in the background, but the temptation to just cut it out and paste it to my paneled wall is great.

Here are the details:

I coloured the tree green, then wished I’d coloured it brown.

Loads of fun shading the pine cones! I used a combination of markers and coloured pencils for effect.

That’s it! All there is to it, apart from the hours of “me” time I got while working on it.

Please find the “rules” below. I look forward to seeing your amazing projects!

#SoCS – Appreciative of the #atozchallenge

To find the prompt and participate in SoCS, click the picture. It’s fun!

Any of my fellow WordPress bloggers who are participating in the A to Z Challenge and haven’t heard yet, you can post your links to the new WordPress “A to Z” blog here: https://atozchallenge.wordpress.com They’re doing a daily post for each letter, so it’ll be as easy as a pingback to record your post and find readers. You’ll find the one for the letter “A” at the top of this post if you click on the letter. 😀

Now that that’s out of the way, my first thesaurus word for the challenge is “appreciative.” And I am, for so many things. First and foremost on my blog are all my readers and those who join in on my prompts week after week, as well as those of you who have done it once or twice. I’ve made so many friends here on WordPress and really, it was a surprise to me that there is such an amazing community here. When I started my blog I had no idea what I was doing. I thought I might find a couple of people who would read what I wrote and that would be it. It wasn’t until I discovered the interaction in the comments, and that discovery I still thank Jason at HARSH REALITY for, for showing me how great it can be to get to know people, that I knew there was so much more to this place than meets the eye.

And prompts like A to Z help expand our horizons. There are hundreds of thousands of people out there who share the same passion as we do – writing, communicating, and sharing our work. The possibilities are endless. All we need do is tap into it. How can we not appreciate something like that?

***

If you’re stopping by my blog for the first time or you haven’t picked it up yet, please check out my A to Z Challenge-inspired novelette “All Good Stories.” It’s a romantic comedy about two best friends who belong together – Xavier knows it, but Jupiter has her eye on another guy: a shady character named Bob.

“Delightful, Light-hearted tale with great twists!” ~ Lori Carleson, 5 stars, Amazon review

“Quirky and charming.” ~ Bobby Underwood, #11 top reviewers on Goodreads – 5 stars

Mr. Paul Curran has been found!

If you read Mr. Mark Bialczak’s post yesterday, or if you came across one of the numerous reblogs of that post, you’ll know we were missing our favourite guest poster and frequent commenter, Paul Curran. Well. I happened to be going to Ottawa today for an appointment and another blogger happened to have Paul’s address so I went and knocked on his front door. And guess what? He was there!

As it turns out he had an infection that caused complications and he was hospitalized for two weeks. Then he got home to find that his modem had blown up, so he’s been without the Internet. He seemed a little flabbergasted to find that all of WordPress was missing him and he asked me to extend his apologies for causing everyone to worry and to let you all know he appreciates that we were thinking of him. It must have been a bit of a shock to have one of us show up at his house!

If all this has shown me anything (and believe me, I’m not patting myself on the back for the little detour I made – it was really nothing) it’s that our “friends” on the Internet are every bit as real as the ones we see in person. The next time it crosses my mind that the people here in this community don’t really care, I’ll think again.

Paul is actually the sixth person I’ve met with face to face who I first encountered here at WordPress. It was a great pleasure to shake his hand. He’s every bit the gentleman we all know and love. Thankfully he’ll be back as soon as his Internet provider replaces his modem.
