I’ve Been Happy

Hey, everyone! Our friend Wes is back, and he has some great news!

Most of you might recognize this photo, for those who don’t it’s the photo that I use as my header image to my blog. I’ve used it ever since I took the picture. However, since that photo and now, my life has change in wonderful ways.

I’ve been gone for quite some time and I apologize for that, life gets in the way of many things when we let it. When I left it was due to a lack of purpose in my writing. I was putting down words but they never really meant anything to me, I didn’t feel like it was the best I could do. Thus I stopped, but it’s different now. The world and myself are different than before, I’m actually happy.

The reason I am happy is a multitude of things, my family, me accepting myself, actually having a decent job. Also realizing that just…

Important Announcement about JusJoJan

First, I have to say I’m ecstatic over the response this year to Just Jot It January. I’m amazed at how many bloggers are joining in and I’m grateful to each and every one of you. Thank you!

Yesterday, however, has taught me that if there’s any chance I’m going to make it to all your posts to read and hopefully comment, I’m going to need some help from you. Originally I expected to be able to link all the ping backs that ended up on the Rules post back to whatever I posted on the current day. I spent the better part of yesterday doing just that; I wasn’t expecting such a great turnout! So here’s what you can do:

If you write your post ahead of midnight (or if you’re in another time zone, before mine is published at 2am my local time) and you ping back to the Rules post, please also drop a link to your post in the comments section of my daily post. If my daily post has been published, please link back to that. The reason behind this is that as the month goes on, the links will get buried in Rules post (last year’s Rules had 317 comments with less than half the number of people participating as there are this year). Eventually, no one will visit the Rules post since everyone will know the Rules off by heart. Therefore, your link won’t get any attention except from me.

So from now on, PLEASE either ping back directly to my current post (today’s is here: https://lindaghill.com/2016/01/02/just-jot-it-january-2nd-pausepaws-socs/ ) or drop a comment and your link in my current post so other people can find you. And check back often so you can see who else is posting. This is your community! Be good to one another! 😀

Again, thanks to everyone participating for making this year’s Just Jot It January an unprecedented success!

Mr. Paul Curran has been found!

If you read Mr. Mark Bialczak’s post yesterday, or if you came across one of the numerous reblogs of that post, you’ll know we were missing our favourite guest poster and frequent commenter, Paul Curran. Well. I happened to be going to Ottawa today for an appointment and another blogger happened to have Paul’s address so I went and knocked on his front door. And guess what? He was there!

As it turns out he had an infection that caused complications and he was hospitalized for two weeks. Then he got home to find that his modem had blown up, so he’s been without the Internet. He seemed a little flabbergasted to find that all of WordPress was missing him and he asked me to extend his apologies for causing everyone to worry and to let you all know he appreciates that we were thinking of him. It must have been a bit of a shock to have one of us show up at his house!

If all this has shown me anything (and believe me, I’m not patting myself on the back for the little detour I made – it was really nothing) it’s that our “friends” on the Internet are every bit as real as the ones we see in person. The next time it crosses my mind that the people here in this community don’t really care, I’ll think again.

Paul is actually the sixth person I’ve met with face to face who I first encountered here at WordPress. It was a great pleasure to shake his hand. He’s every bit the gentleman we all know and love. Thankfully he’ll be back as soon as his Internet provider replaces his modem.

I reached a milestone today!

The more you blog the longer it takes to get from point to point, but today I hit a milestone I’ve been working at for a while. Today, I made it to 100,000 views. 🙂

I’ve learned a lot over these past years of blogging. Most of all I’ve found that there are many wonderful people in this WordPress community who experience the same joys and the same tribulations as I do on a day to day basis. I’ve made friends – I’ve even met five of you in person! I hope to be here for a good long time and to meet a whole heck of a lot more of you!

And so I’d like to say thank you to all of the people who clicked on my posts in the past two years and ten months. And to the ones who visited today for the first time, no thanks to you… but thanks for helping me get to 200K! 😀

Cheers!
