Adventures on my Paper Route – Angry Birds and a Plucking

It’s been a while since I last had anything to post about on my paper route. Of late my walk around the block has been lacking in anything adventurous… but now I have two things to report!

First, one of my customers has a robin’s nest tucked into the corner of the overhang above his front door where the mailbox is located. Every day I’m dive-bombed by an anxious male robin when I try to deliver the paper. Who knew male robins could be so aggressive? I would never hurt it, but it flies so close to my head that all I would need to do is raise my hand and I could knock the silly thing out of the air.

In other news, they trimmed Nosehair!

I’m not sure if Nosehair is pleased with his freshly plucked proboscis… I, on the other hand, am considering a new nickname for my leafy friend. Any suggestions?

I’m thinking of the name, Butch. Sounds incredibly strong and no one’s going to mess with a tree by the name of Butch. Heck, I wouldn’t mess around with a tree who goes by the name Butch! 🙂

I like Nosehair with his new look! I’d leave the name like this, I’d like to play with the idea that during the night he went to the tree-barber!

We always get the one bird family that insists on building their nest right under the porch eave, even though we’re in-and-out of that door several times a day – and put a container garden there. And every year, they dive bomb the plants and make their displeasure known (they don’t dive-bomb us though, thankfully!)

And I like Snodgrass, as suggested above… quite posh.

The people I deliver to use that door all the time as well. Maybe that’s why the robin has become so accustomed to attacking. I can be standing there for as little as a half a minute and he’ll have flown at me three times.

Two votes for Snodgrass! Duly noted. 🙂 Thanks for the comment.
