My day is winding down; I have just enough wine in me that I’m not sleepy. Contentedness folds over me like a warm blanket.
The sound is down on Mickey Mouse, because my son is Deaf–gone are the days of having to listen to a certain purple dinosaur, for whom I feel absolutely no love, and who I suspect doesn’t love me either. There are walls and windows between myself and my family, and the frigid winter air. My tummy is full of a simple dinner of pasta and canned tomatoes, with mozzerella cheese melted on top… What more could I ask for?
I love nights like this. It’s like comfort food for an exhausted soul.
Tell me, what is your perfect evening with family?

My favorite family times are the ones where Drew and her boys are here. I remember one night, years ago, where we’d spent the entire day in downtown Savannah, and returned to my house at midnight, where we ate eggs, bacon, fried biscuits with apple butter, fresh berries and grits. The laughter seemed endless and extended well into the wee hours. 😀 But for the four of us who live here all the time, it must surely be when the table is full of Chinese containers and laughter.

That must be so much fun. So homey… but to me, reading your posts, your home always sounds homey. 😀
By the way, I was picking the crunchy bits of cheese out of the casserole dish last night and I thought of you. 🙂

Just about anything involving a good book or in all honesty just about any book I can fall into.

A perfect evening for me would be together with my kids, even they are adults, living far away from me, where we would have a great homemade dinner, a little wine and just talk together about everything going on in our lives. This maybe because it is long time ago, I have been together with them.

Sounds nice. I haven’t watched much of CSI since Grissom left though. I thought it went downhill for a while… did it get better again?

Perfect night in for me is a warm blanket (in the winter), a glass of wine, and a good book. No talking. No noise.

Well. Two answers if i’m by myself….it consists of a glass of wine, my journal, and a warm bubble bath.
If i’m home with my family it is watching bad reality TV with my mom. Yup, i’m 20-something and spending time with my mom is still the coolest! 🙂

Your “alone” version sounds like Heaven. And as for being twenty-something and still thinking it’s cool to hang out with your mom, I’d have to say she did something right! I hope my kids want to hang out with me after they turn twenty! 😀

mmm… Perfect night with the family… I’d be at my sister’s house, with a belly full of something homemade (right now I’m feeling fajitas!). The fam and I would be playing board games and drinking Chai tea together 🙂

Yes! I love being on my own too. 🙂 If I was right now, I’d surely be listening to music and writing my heart out.
I haven’t been to my reader, but I’ll have a look for your poem. That’s so funny… great minds think alike after all!
