You never know when you’re going to meet someone who will change your life forever. Be it by accident or by design, there are those whose actions will alter the course of our lives, or do it simply by existing.
For myself, I think the people who have changed my life the most drastically are my kids. I could have had no idea how much until I actually gave birth to them.
There are people who have passed through my life who have caused me to trust less, and those who have cemented my faith in humanity. I suppose one sort balances the other sort out.
My ex, with whom I had my children…
We met when we worked together many years before we actually began having a romantic relationship. We lost track of each other for six years – it didn’t really matter. We were barely friends at the start. Then one day I pulled into a gas station just to buy gas and there he was again, in a city hundreds of miles from where we first met. Some might say it was meant to be. I’m sure my kids would.
I never even liked children before I had my own. Yet now I would die for one, even if it was not mine. That’s what being a mother is about, I guess.
I wanted to say something about the fiction piece I’m going to post after I post this one, also for SoCS. It is entitled “Entranced” and it is metaphorical. There are people out there like the man you will meet in this particular piece of fiction. They are hard to spot. They are dangerous. http://lindaghillfiction.wordpress.com/2014/05/10/entranced-stream-of-consciousness-saturday-entrance/
And I’ve lost the train.
Who has changed your life just by walking into it? So many do, don’t they?
SoCS – This week’s prompt, “Entrance”. https://lindaghill.wordpress.com/2014/05/09/the-friday-reminder-and-prompt-for-socs-may-1014/

I have had so many people who’ve changed me as they’ve walked through my life. My husband and kids for sure, my son’s wife is another, but once in a while, I’ve been given special people to walk just part of life’s road with me – people that genuinely seem like they were sent to me just to get me through a specific event or period of time. I consider these people my guardian angels…only there for the time that they’re needed and then off they go to the next person that needs them. It’s a wonderful thing when one of these people show up in my life letting me know that I’m not alone and usually imparting a great sense of peace at a time when it’s sorely needed.

I’ve had the same experience – I do love the way you’ve described here the way people come into our lives seemingly just to help us out. Thanks so much for this! 🙂

Yeah = the train did kinda go off there…I love it when that happens!! 😛
I dunno – My daughter – made me grow the f up. My NOW hubby….gently showed me sense. SO yeah – those two. Absolutely.
JUST – something: I always tell my daughter when we speak of ‘if I had not met her father (my ex) then I would never have had her. We (me and her) wonder about that really, because that design thing: two ways to think of it for me – I had to meet the ex – to have her (and numerous other larger than life, life lessons) or is it, her spirit/soul would have come to our lives even if it was in a different body? I know that sounds quirky – but it pleases us sometimes…because…the thought of her never being born, frankly I would go through hell and back all over again if it meant losing her. (and of course then there are the other two – but only space for one tale here right 😉 )
I hear you on the – would die for ANY kid thing…just how it is right.

Strange sometimes, how things work out for the best, even when we didn’t think they were so good to begin with. And kids are a blessing, no matter how you cut it. 🙂

People come into our lives for reasons. They may be for life or for seasons. There is always a purpose for the strangers who cross our paths, something to learn from or direct us to our next journey.

People come into our lives for a reason and a season. Sometimes the season lasts for a long time, sometimes it doesn’t. But each person plays their part in making us the person we are now. They teach us and mold us and we are all the better for knowing them.

Better? I suppose that depends on what we do with the changes in us that they provide.

Well that is entirely up to us. We can either choose to let the changes alter us for the worse or rise above them.

Exactly. Which is why it’s important to learn a lesson and then move on. It’s one I still struggle with myself – speaking from first-hand experience.

No, I left him but it still took 18 years to forgive what he had done to me and the children. I am proud of the fact that I could smile and chat with him at my son’s wedding and not instantly arc up and put up my defenses.

Everyone we interact with must surely affect us, I would think. So many of my friends changed my life. And my husband, and my children, and even a kind stranger here and there. I must say, I’m very good at remembering the words of people, and taking them all in — So many amazing words have been gifted to me, it would be virtually impossible to list them all.
Children are surely the ultimate life-changers.

They certainly are. 🙂 But it’s true, anyone and everyone has the ability to change your life, if you pay attention and allow them to. Sometimes for the better, sometimes not.

Like you Linda My husband changed my life , I met him when I was thirteen we were friends for five years before we bacme husband and wife.
The second most influencial person was the Pain Theropist I met after my accident she told me to write out my pain and fears I am so glad I listened to her because she is the reason for willow21 .
The surgeon who put me back together he is the reason I am walking today( it was never a definite , even he admitted that to me.)
and so many friend virtual and tangable who have helped me so much through life.
So to recap
My husband
My children and their partners
My grandchild
My surgeon
My pain theropist
and all my friends
The above is not necessarily in the correct order!

Like you my children have kept me young, they are all gown now with their own families and it was lovely today to be able say happy Mother’s Day to my girls. But my personal journey which is about to begin is exciting and so freeing, I am so looking forward to all the possibilities it presents to me.
