Do you hear me zipping by in the title? Always looking for new ways to say the same damned thing.

After an amazing 20 (yes! Twenty!) views yesterday, I’m looking for something to write about today. I was actually busy yesterday trying out the free trial of Scrivener, and I have to say I’m in love with it. I went through the tutorial in just over the two hours they promised it would take, and I started plugging my manuscript into it right away. Many people have told me this is probably not a good idea, but with the synopsis feature, where I can write a few words about what each chapter is about, I can so easily see now where I’m being redundant. I have a feeling Scrivener is going to be the best thing to happen to my novel yet.

In other news, I received my paperback copy of The Mirror: Book One in the mail and I can’t wait to read it again! If you’re reading this, Mr. McConaughey, I’ll be wanting it signed. I hope you’re working on your pseudonym’s autograph.

Mirror

As soon as I’ve finished reading–once it is again fresh in my mind–I’ll be writing a review.

What else is new?

I have an exciting new addition to my job as a newspaper carrier. Starting Monday, I’ll be delivering magazines! I’m guessing Rogers Communications–one of the, if not THE biggest media companies in Canada–who distributes a certain number of mags, has contracted the job out to Sun Media because of the cutbacks that are coming up in the post office. Soon, apparently, delivery of the mail to our front doors will be a thing of the past. But hey, with the decline of the printed newspaper, if it keeps me in a job, I’ll take it.

I had an amazing inspiration for the sequel to The Great Dagmaru yesterday. When Chris woke up, he came down the stairs and asked me, “Did you hear the man screaming outside in the distance last night?” I didn’t. He failed to tell me whether the man sounded angry, in pain or frightened… my imagination being what it is, I can see this being a strong sub-plot. I love it when things like this are just dropped in my lap. It’s exciting!

Speaking of inspiration, I’m working on today’s SoCS prompt – will give that some more thought on my way around the block.

‘Til then, have a great morning/afternoon/evening, depending where you are in this wonderful world of ours.

“Did you hear the man screaming outside in the distance last night?”

I used to wake up to this in Iraq. Now I just wake up to sirens. Not the blonde ones of Odysseus–I assume they were blonde–me being sexist an’ all 😉
Sorry, that was way off topic an’ maybe even in bad taste.
I miss Iraq. There I knew the score.
In American, all is up for grabs.

I purchased Scrivener based on Nav’s recommendation but haven’t really got the hang of it yet. Mind you I haven’t put a lot of time into it either.

Twenty views yesterday? Wow… there are weeks I don’t get that many. I need to kick up my blogging and my commenting on other blogs. I’m trying three times a week, and I think I might need to do it more.

You’ll like Scrivener. I’ve had it for a while and it has some great features. And I disagree: Importing your manuscript is the perfect way to get started with it. Have fun!

My fiction blog is the same – lucky most months to hit 80 views. Forcing myself to be creative outside of my novel just doesn’t seem to happen though. 😛

Thanks for the encouragement on Scrivener. I’m still going to save my edits to my original Open Office document I think, until I really get the hang of it.

It is so depressing that they are sinking the Canadian mail. Our Bell connection to the internet failed yesterday and it made me realize how dependant we are on this flimsy link to the rest of the world. There was something more real about getting things in the mail. Not everyone is connected.

Congrats on the 20 views? Seriously though, I think we’re heading into the slow summer period on WordPress. Last year was a shock when people simply vanished and never returned. Have fun with those projects.

So glad you discovered Scrivener! I absolutely love it and have put all my manuscripts in their own little project folder – – It makes it so easy to pull up and quickly jot down an “idea card’ on the corkboard when I’ve been out weeding and a great line or plot twist pops into my brain – – I definitely make more progress on each of my projects now than I did when I was trying to keep track of sticky notes or my own brain cells – – LOL

I can just write an idea card? Oh cool! I’ll have to figure that one out. 😀 Thanks!
It’s true – there are soooo many things to remember when writing a novel. Too much for the brain. 🙂 Thank goodness for programs like Scrivener!

I haven’t upgraded to the latest version of Scrivener, but if you use the ‘corkboard’ view – you can have a visual of your outline, chapter ideas, character cards, etc., like a virtual index card file (which was how I was originally taught to do my notes in a Creative Writing class back when electric typewriters were the big technology! LOL)
