Hello bloggers, and welcome to the Friday prompt for this week’s Stream of Consciousness Saturday! It’s been a busy week for me in the editing department (which means I’ve spent a lot of time sitting on my couch with my laptop, editing my novel) and, going back to the beginning yesterday, I realised that somewhere along the way I’ve actually become a better writer. I suppose editing a 500 page novel line-by-line is bound to do that to a person. So what does all this mean? It means I need a break. Therefore:
Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: funny. Funny/haha or funny/peculiar – your choice. Go at it!
After you’ve written your Saturday post tomorrow, please link it here at the prompt page in the comments so others can find it and see your awesome Stream of Consciousness post. Anyone can join in!
Try out our new, handy dandy SoCS badge. Paste it in your Saturday post so people browsing the reader will immediately know your post is stream of consciousness and/or pin it as a widget to your site to show you’re a participant. Wear it with pride!!
Here are the rules:
1. Your post must be stream of consciousness writing, meaning no editing, (typos can be fixed) and minimal planning on what you’re going to write.
2. Your post can be as long or as short as you want it to be. One sentence – one thousand words. Fact, fiction, poetry – it doesn’t matter. Just let the words carry you along until you’re ready to stop.
3. There will be a prompt every week. I will post the prompt here on my blog on Friday, along with a reminder for you to join in. The prompt will be one random thing, but it will not be a subject. For instance, I will not say “Write about dogs”; the prompt will be more like, “Make your first sentence a question,” or “Begin with the word ‘The’.”
4. Ping back! It’s important, so that I and other people can come and read your post! For example, in your post you can write “This post is part of SoCS:” and then copy and paste the URL found in your address bar at the top of this post into yours. Your link will show up in my comments, for everyone to see. The most recent pingbacks will be found at the top.
5. Read at least one other person’s blog who has linked back their post. Even better, read everyone’s! If you’re the first person to link back, you can check back later, or go to the previous week, by following my category, “Stream of Consciousness Saturday,” which you’ll find right below the “Like” button on my post.
6. Copy and paste the rules (if you’d like to) in your post. The more people who join in, the more new bloggers you’ll meet and the bigger your community will get!
7. Have fun!

Aaaand now the new pingback isn’t showing — so here’s my entry because the other link won’t work since the URL had the wrong date: http://somekernelsoftruth.com/2014/09/13/funny-quirks-or-smart-moves/
OK, no more internet for me tonight. Good night! 🙂

It’s been fun watching you rant in my comments. 😉 Haha! Sorry I wasn’t around to answer each one of them. I don’t know if it’s possible to publish after scheduling – I think I ran into the same problem once and ended up just scheduling it for the next minute so I wouldn’t have to wait. 😛
Glad you got it sorted out!

Thanks — I was so frustrated and since the time I commented with those questions, I tried looking it up and it does seem options are limited after scheduling a post. They should change that; has no other blogger ever changed their mind and decided to publish immediately after scheduling a post? Why not make it easy to revert back? Geez. Anyway, sorry for the drama in your comments. 🙂 And thanks for your help now; I feel better getting confirmation that I wasn’t missing something glaringly obvious!

Oh no problem at all. I related to your frustration so much that it actually did make me smile. … in sympathy of course. 🙂

FYI, I fixed it by rescheduling again. It bothered me to have the wrong date! 🙂 It all started when I tried scheduling it for the morning but then changed my mind to publish now, but had the hardest time undoing the scheduling and then clicked the 12th and it went…is it me, or is it not possible to change a post to publishing immediately once you’ve set it to be scheduled? I couldn’t find a way to undo that…any tips would be appreciated!

Just posted but was going to schedule it for the morning and messed up the date/time (does anyone else hate UTC in WP as much as I do?), so it looks like I posted it yesterday! Just had to vent…anyway, I enjoyed this prompt and look forward to seeing what everyone does with it!
