Life in progress

SoC’S Socks – #SoCS

I had an entire laundry basket full of odd socks. Can you imagine? Only a few of them matched. And I didn’t even have a dryer for them to get sucked into oblivion into! So I threw them all out except I didn’t have any bag tags. Here where I live it costs $2.50 to throw out a bag of garbage – you have to buy tags to stick to your bags. So my garbage bag of socks was sitting around the house when I got this guy

Winston, sleeping on his back

and of course he found them. Two have been adopted by the pup.

So this is the first time I’ve been online (apart from a few minutes yesterday) since Thursday. And then it was only for a couple of minutes too. It’s been a crazy, mixed up Christmas this year with dinner happening (the big dinner that is) on Christmas Eve and not much sleep due to the festivities. But it’s been fun. I’m thankful for SoCS. It’s made me get on the computer long enough to say thank you… and that’s really what I want to do. Thank you to each and every one of you who have joined in, even once. I appreciate this community on WordPress more than I can express. You have kept me sane more times than I can count.

I hope everyone has had a happy holiday. Cheers to another year of SoCS!

  1. So cute! Nothing better than dogs and socks πŸ™‚

  2. Puppy! Upside down and everything!

Our ‘puppy’ will be nine in March. He’s getting grey, but he still spends a good deal of time upside down.

Oh, were we supposed to be talking about socks? Nah – PUPPY!

I love coming here each week and letting you add some spices to the ever-simmering stew of thoughts in my head. I’ve written fiction I never expected, delved my depths, and soared over the horizon, all because of these weekly words or letters you offer so freely! =D

  3. Little Winston looks lovely! I would love to know where all the odd socks go around here too! πŸ™‚

  4. Sending a hug and thank YOU for hour great prompts πŸ™‚

  5. We have a small basket, about the size of a Moses basket, for odd socks. We have what I call ‘sock matching parties.’ The kids do not love them. lol I have two faraway friends and we occasionally share our sock basket photos. One of them has six kids, though, so she’s in worse shape. Last week Moo told me half her socks are missing. I said, “Aw, we need to have a sock matching party!” She groaned, but she got back at least 15 pair of socks that day πŸ˜‰
Please keep sharing pictures of the puppy! πŸ˜€

    • I wonder if it would be more work to get my kids involved in a sock matching party than it is just to do it myself… The basket is an excellent idea though. Thanks for that!
You’ll probably be sick of the puppy before it’s grown up πŸ˜›

    • I don’t remember my kids being excited about our sock festivals either. I suspect the younger ones have totally blocked it out in self-defense. Hell, maybe the older ones have too. I’ll have to ask . . . maybe. πŸ˜‰

  9. I love this Linda, as it combines the two weekly blogging hops I have come to rely on: Stream of Consciousness and Ten Things of Thankkful. I like that I can write and not think and then I can write ten things I am thankful and grateful for every single week. Love the appreciation you show in this post. Now, on to writing my contribution and I hope I can think of something, on the spot, that is interesting, involving socks.
    Have a Happy New Year.

  10. Thank you, Linda, for having SoCS and 1LinerWeds for all of us to share! I haven’t put up a slew of posts I would not have written otherwise and found so many new blogs through your series. Many, many thanks!

  11. Thanks for bringing us interesting and challenging prompts Linda. I hope your holidays have been happy and I wish you and your family all the best in 2016.
