One-Liner Wednesday – Useless superpowers

I discovered last week that I have a superpower; I can pace at a rate of exactly sixty steps per minute without looking at the clock for twenty seconds or so.

Do you have a useless superpower?

If you would like to participate in this prompt, feel free to use the “One-Liner Wednesday” title in your post, and if you do, you can ping back here to help your blog get more exposure. To execute a pingback, just copy the URL in the address bar on this post, and paste it somewhere in the body of your post. Your link will show up in the comments below. Please ensure that the One-Liner Wednesday you’re pinging back to is this week’s! Otherwise, no one will likely see it but me.

NOTE: Pingbacks only work from WordPress sites. If you’re self-hosted or are participating from another host, please leave a link to your post in the comments below.

As with Stream of Consciousness Saturday (SoCS), if you see a pingback from someone else in my comment section, click and have a read. It’s bound to be short and sweet.

Unlike SoCS, this is not a prompt so there’s no need to stick to the same “theme.”

The rules that I’ve made for myself (but don’t always follow) for “One-Liner Wednesday” are:

1. Make it one sentence.

2. Try to make it either funny or inspirational.

3. Use our unique tag #1linerWeds.

4. Add our lovely badge to your post for extra exposure!

5. Have fun!

My super distractibility is a hidden superpower. When I listen I avoid ergonomic injuries. Did I say that right?

I vote no superpowers are useless superpowers. Mine is some sort of sixth sense that tells me what other people (those I know well) are up to. Useful for knowing when the adult children are in trouble but it makes it hard for people to surprise me. That’s generally helpful except when someone is trying to do something nice for my birthday.

And are you going to do a post on how you figured this out? Why were you pacing for that long?

I’ve actually had a lot of practice. Twice a day, every day, Alex gets his meds. It’s in liquid form and has to be shaken for 5 minutes every time. Rather than just stand still and think about how much my arms ache, I pace back and forth between the kitchen (where the timer’s counting down the seconds on the stove) and the living room. I can successfully count the seconds backwards in my head to the beat of my steps between the kitchen, the living room, and back again.

That’s pretty cool, Linda. Maybe not useless. Maybe a character with that power could use it to time something.
