JusJoJan 19/26 – Consistency

This post is part of Just Jot it January, and the prompt word, “consistency,” is brought to us by Warren. Check out his blog here!

Does consistency lead to routine or does routine lead to consistency?

Kind of a chicken and an egg sort of question.

One part of my routine that I count on is drinking coffee. (That might actually be a habit, but let’s not get into those for the time being.)

To drink coffee, I have to first make it. And I’ve decided of late that I’m really tired of having to make coffee.

Like, I get weary just thinking about having to fill the coffeemaker with water, throw out the old filter, wash the basket, wash the pot, put in a new filter, add the coffee … You see how boring it is?

But if I want coffee …

That’s it! I need a maid!

But first I have to consistently earn money.

Damn it!

*makes boring coffee myself*

It’s such a daily grind. (Pun intended.)

Thanks again to Warren for today’s prompt!

I like the idea of thinking of a habit as jst being consistent. It sounds better.

You ARE funny! Maybe the thing is to look at habit as more like ritual, the one that starts the journey. My morning habit is me in my comfy chair, drinking the coffee (after I’ve fed the cat of course). My cat’s morning habit is to gobble his food half-way, then jump on me and occupy both arms as he purrs a mad thank you for his breakfast, thus blocking me from my coffee (vital part of this morning habit). My coffee gets cold, but I love the purring, the warmth of his tiny body, and his excitement at staring out the window.

Cultural clashes often result in a hybrid of the ritual; makes things exciting, no?

Maybe that’s what I need—a ritual that doesn’t include coffee and work from the moment I wake up until the moment I go to sleep.
What I need is to sit on someone’s lap and just stare out the window.
I need to be a cat!
      🤪😅😂

lol…..life improved a bit when I discovered the joy of a french press…..but I can remember the days when my parents would make it, the good old percolator, it was like a special even.

You need a Keurig! Just pop a k-cup in and press a button! But you do still have to add water. 😉

Switch to tea. It’s so much easier. (Unless you do it properly of course with loose tea and a teapot lol.)
