Guest Host Q and A: Inspired by ghostmmnc at teleportingweena!

jjj-2017

Hi there! Shan Jeniah https://shanjeniah.com/about/ here, back one more time to thank you all for making my first-ever stint guest hosting a blog hop such a rewarding experience!

When Linda told me I could do a guest post, I struggled with what I would say. It only took two sentences to say thank you, and I don’t want to bore anyone. Then I realized how much I enjoyed the question-and-answer posts over at ghostmmnc’s blog, teleportingweena, like this one: https://teleportingweena.wordpress.com/2017/01/15/fun-questions-and-answers/

When I read them, I wanted to post my own answers…and so, here, the two things happily blended, and I can offer you a guest post that says a little about me without being a me-fest. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

I didn’t do all fifty from this post; just as many as I felt like doing. Ready?

Off we go, then!

Do you sleep with your closet doors open or closed?

  • Open. There’s usually stuff in front of them, and I don’t want to move it.

Do you take the shampoos and conditioner bottles from hotel?

  • No. I like my own better.

Do you sleep with your sheets tucked in or out?

  • I use a fitted sheet on the bottom; quilts above. I don’t tuck; I cocoon!

Have you ever stolen a street sign before?

  • No. Nor now, either.

Do you like to use post-it notes?

  • Sometimes. I used one in a fan fiction story once. =)

What is your biggest pet peeve?

  • Being peeved. Huge waste of my time.

Do you ever count your steps when you walk?

  • Yes.

Is it okay for guys to wear pink as a colour?

  • Who gets to decide this stuff? Let people wear what they want; who cares what’s in their pants?!

Whats your least favorite movie?

  • I don’t really have one. If I don’t care for a movie, I generally stop watching it.

What do you drink with dinner?

  • Water, or coffee.

What is your favorite food?

  • I love salads. Especially if I don’t need to make it myself.

What movie could you watch over and over and still love?

  • You’ve Got Mail; Turner and Hooch; Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home; probably many others I’m not thinking of now.

Would you ever strip or pose nude in a magazine?

  • I might. I’ve posted one censored nude on a blog. I don’t have a problem with non-exploitative nudity.

When was the last time you wrote a letter to someone on paper?

  • Either a letter to my husband, or to my daughter.

#JusJoJan Daily Prompt – Jan. 16th/17

Hey there! Shan Jeniah https://shanjeniah.com/about/  again, back for the Day Two  of guest-hosting Just Jot It January. It seems we all survived my first day, so let’s just dive right into today’s prompt before I decide to go into how nervous I was, and how silly that is, and…

Right. You’re here for a prompt, not a story. * ahem *. <shuffles imaginary papers>. Ah, here we go…your prompt for today:

The Just Jot It January 16th prompt, brought to you by Blog Woman!!! of Blog Woman!!! -Life, Uncategorized, is: “Impenetrable.” Use it any way you like. And make sure you stop by and say hi to Blog Woman!!!, as well! Here’s her blog: https://blog-woman.com/.

jjj-2017

The rules for Just Jot It January are as follows:

1. It’s never too late to join in! Here, we run on the honour system; the “jot it” part of JusJoJan means that anything you jot down, anywhere (it doesn’t have to be a post, it can even be a grocery list) counts as a “Jot.” If it makes it to your blog that day, great! If it waits a week to get from a sticky note to your screen, no problem!

2. The prompts will be posted every day at 2am my time (GMT -5). You don’t have to follow the prompt word, but this will be where you leave your link for others to see. Make sure you link your post to the correct day’s prompt. There will be a post like this every day except Wednesday, when the prompt is simply my One-Liner Wednesday, and Saturday, when you’ll find the prompt on my usual Friday Reminder post for Stream of Consciousness Saturday (SoCS).

3. As long as your blog is on WordPress, you’ll be able to link via pingback. To execute a pingback, just copy the URL from the daily prompt post, and paste it anywhere in your post. Check to make sure your link shows up where you want it to, and go back occasionally to see other bloggers’ entries – the more you visit others, the more they’ll visit you! If you’re participating from another blogging host, just drop a link into the comment section. Note: The newest pingbacks and comments will be at the top.

4. Tag your post JusJoJan and/or #JusJoJan.

5. Write anything! Any length will do! It can even be a photo or a drawing – you’re going to title it, right? There’s your jot!

6. The prompts are here both to remind you and to inspire you to write. However, you don’t have to use the prompt word of the day. You can link any kind of jot back here. Even your shopping list. Note: If it’s 18+ content, please say so in a comment with your link.

7. If you’d like to, use the JusJoJan badge (above) in your post so that others can find your post more easily.

8. Have fun!

If you’d like to look ahead to see the upcoming prompt words, click this link: https://lindaghill.com/2016/12/31/just-jot-it-january-2017-rules/ You can always write your post ahead of time and schedule it to come out on the appropriate day.

Hey there! I’m Shan Jeniah from shanjeniah’s Lovely Chaos https://shanjeniah.com/about/!

Linda’s taking a much-deserved breather for the next three days, so I’m stepping in to deliver your prompts. I’ll have a guest post up tomorrow, and I’ll talk more about myself then. For now, I’ll keep it short and sweet, so that we can get right to business.

Here’s your prompt for today:

The Just Jot It January 15th prompt, brought to you by BarbCT of Gallimaufry,  is “Mercy.”  Use it any way you’re inspired to. And make sure you stop by and say hi to BarbCT as well! Here’s her blog: https://barbct.wordpress.com/.

This Was Fun

In exchange for hosting #JusJoJan for a few days, Linda offered the opportunity to guest post on her blog. At first, I thought: “what a great way to break my New Year’s promise to only blog 4 times a week.” You see, I did include the proviso: “…plus the occasional re-blog.” I could scrawl 1,000 words over here, re-blog it and still be in compliance.

I wouldn’t do that to Linda.

In fact, all I want to say is that hosting #JusJoJan was fun, educational and my pleasure. What? Were you thinking that “all I want to say” meant I was only going to say one thing? Seriously? This is Dan, not Linda writing.

It was my pleasure because Linda does a lot for me as a blogger. I always know that if I’m stuck for an idea for a Saturday post, I can turn to her Friday Stream of Consciousness Saturday prompt. Even if I have an idea, I have the challenge of approaching it in SoC style. I can almost hear my editor saying: “you could always skip a day…”

Linda is also very understanding about my, ahem, liberal interpretation of what constitutes “one line” on Wednesdays.

Hosting was educational, because, although I have always appreciated her prompts, I had no idea how much work is involved. A successful promptster has pingbacks and comments up the…whaaaaa…t was I saying? I’m not complaining, but after three days of attempting to monitor the flow here, I am even more grateful to Linda and the other (you know who you are) people running prompts and blog-hops.

Most importantly, it was fun to meet a bunch of new bloggers and to catch a few of my regular writers under a new light. I enjoyed seeing the interesting-humorous-serious-sideways-twisted-artistic ways in which people can approach a single word. You guys rock!

Thanks for supporting me during my three days at the wheel. Good luck with the rest of #JusJoJan – as Linda would say – Enjoy!

The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS Oct. 1/16

Welcome to the Friday prompt for Saturday’s SoCS, I’m your guest host, Joey of Joeyfully Stated, aka, NotLindaGHill.

As I write this post, I am feeling even more awkward and nervous than usual. Writing on someone else’s blog is kinda like cookin in someone else’s kitchen.

Y’all, Linda told you I’d be an exciting guest-poster, and now I’m feelin a lot of pressure to be exciting, which is difficult under normal circumstances but especially since she didn’t leave any tequila here for me.

I think the best thing you could do to help me, the best way to comfort me in this strange time, would be to bring me tequila write about things that are awkward. ‘Awkward’ is your prompt. You can write about feeling awkward like me right now or the awkward silences we often find ourselves in, like staring at a blank page only sometimes that blank page is a person’s face, or even trying to fill the awkward silence — just make it awkward. Do your best to out-awkward me.

After you’ve written your Stream of Consciousness Saturday post, please link it here at this week’s prompt page and check to make sure it’s here in the comments so others can find it and see it. All are welcome to participate.

To make your post more visible, use the SoCS badge! Just paste it in your Saturday post so people browsing the reader will immediately know your post is stream of consciousness and/or pin it as a widget to your site to show you’re a participant. Wear it with pride!!

socsbadge2016-17

Here are the rules:

1. Your post must be stream of consciousness writing, meaning no editing, (typos can be fixed) and minimal planning on what you’re going to write.

2. Your post can be as long or as short as you want it to be. One sentence – one thousand words. Fact, fiction, poetry – it doesn’t matter. Just let the words carry you along until you’re ready to stop.

3. There will be a prompt every week. I will post the prompt here on my blog on Friday, along with a reminder for you to join in. The prompt will be one random thing, but it will not be a subject. For instance, I will not say “Write about dogs”; the prompt will be more like, “Make your first sentence a question,” “Begin with the word ‘The’,” or simply a single word to get your started.

4. Ping back! It’s important, so that I and other people can come and read your post! For example, in your post you can write “This post is part of SoCS:” and then copy and paste the URL found in your address bar at the top of this post into yours.  Your link will show up in my comments for everyone to see. The most recent pingbacks will be found at the top. NOTE: Pingbacks only work from WordPress sites. If you’re self-hosted or are participating from another host such as Blogger, please leave a link to your post in the comments below.

5. Read at least one other person’s blog who has linked back their post. Even better, read everyone’s! If you’re the first person to link back, you can check back later, or go to the previous week, by following my category, “Stream of Consciousness Saturday,” which you’ll find right below the “Like” button on my post.

6. Copy and paste the rules (if you’d like to) in your post. The more people who join in, the more new bloggers you’ll meet and the bigger your community will get!

7. As a suggestion, tag your post “SoCS” and/or “#SoCS” for more exposure and more views.

8. Have fun!
