How Are Chickens Like Days Off?

I’m within an hour of the end of two days off. Yesterday I got a fair bit of work done on my manuscript – almost fifteen pages edited, which for me is flying through. I managed to take the evening off from everything and just watch an episode of “Breaking Bad.” I’ve only watched two so far – still wondering what all the hype’s about.

Then today I was woken up early with a phone call – Chris was sick at school and they couldn’t reach his dad. So I texted my ex, got up, delivered the papers, had a piece of toast and lay on the couch … and proceeded to sleep most of the day away. No editing accomplished.

How are chickens like days off?

Don’t count them before they’re hatched.

I need a week off.

I’m still waiting for The Man From U.N.C.L.E. to come to Netflix before I Break Bad.

You probably REALLY needed the sleep.

Life’s like that sometimes, random and thwarting of our priorities…

When I read the title of your post Linda, I thought for a moment it was about hens!

BTW I thought I was the only one not into Breaking Bad’. Only watched one episode and felt it didn’t meet the hype at all (yet I liked Homeland, Game of Thrones, Season 1 of Dexter…I’m no wuss!?)

I LOVED Dexter!! I’ve watched the entire thing – it was great! I’m going to give Breaking Bad another chance though. The second episode was better than the first.

Yep, life can be pretty unpredictable at times, and yet I knew I was behind on my sleep. There just aren’t enough hours in two days!

I also loved watching Dexter. Currently I am trying to find time to watch Treme. If you love jazz and NOLA it is a must. The Wire was outstanding. I watched all of it, but it may not be everyone’s cup of tea. Homeland, Breaking Bad, I truly enjoyed as well. Game of Thrones, could not embrace it. Guess I got caught up in a TV vortex after all my time in Iraq and Afghanistan and not watching any at all. Go figure.

I barely watch any TV – in fact Dexter is the only thing I’ve watched (except now Breaking Bad on Netflix so I can go at it at my own pace) in about 4 years.

I hadn’t heard of Treme before now. I’ve been to NOLA once and I did love it there – I’ll look up the show. Thanks for the recommendation, Lance. 🙂

It is a wonderful show; no real violence, unlike The Wire, which I love to. But after watching all of that one, I was exhausted. Treme is a refreshing change. It is all about the music, which I love.

Linda, you will love it. I have already screened two seasons for you and found nothing displeasing.

Please do check it out when you have time. I would love to read your blog take on it, if, that is, you do TV show reviews based upon some schmuck follower of your who recommends them.

                (That was a joke, btw)

Seriously, I am typing faster than my brain can keep up.
Check it out and be not swerved by my opinion, as I know you will not.
                Cheers,
                Lance

I’ve never tried doing a tv show review, but I would like to start doing book reviews. I’ll take your suggestion into consideration though. 🙂

Now go catch up with your brain. I think I saw it running up the street!

People also tend to run around like a headless chicken on days off. 😉

Why chickens are like days off, is much the same as why they crossed the road in the first place… So they could come first before the egg 😀 Oh dear! I’ve just scrapped the bottom of the barrel.

15 pages is great! That’s about what I accomplish and I just sit at home scratching my gut while playing video games. 😉 As for the second day, those are good too. For your question, though, this isn’t what I had in mind. I was thinking there’s always a “roaster” (since the other word is immensely uncouth) messing things up.
