I’m out

I’m out. Of money, that is. It’s official. I went to the grocery store today to pick up some essentials and I got the dreaded “Insufficient Funds” screen on the debit machine. Though it’s killing me to do so, I’d like to ask a favour.

If you haven’t already, please buy my book. If you have, or if you have a friend who might like it, please direct them to it. Reblog, share on social media, have a parade down the main street of your town or city, whatever it is you normally do to get attention. If I can get to $100 in royalties, Amazon will pay me next month – they hold smaller amounts.

If you know me, you know I never ask for anything. I hate asking for anything. Please, just share this post. And if you have 99¢ and want to read a really funny book, please click on one of the links below.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Linda

  7. Linda, I think we can all sympathize with your plight. Writers don’t seem to make money unless they are James Patterson and company. If thing get bad, remember the blogging community is very supportive and I think everyone would help you out via a GoFundMe app. Of course I’ll buy your book.

  8. I actually have a future post about trying to buy your book and being angry at Amazon. However, I won’t take my frustration out on you. Consider the book bought.

Linda G Hill is a supportive and inspirational blogger who is always happy to offer advice and guidance to other writers, so it’s only fair that I reblog this post for her.

I shall no doubt be dropping some none too subtle hints about my published work in the lead up to the annual gift buying season, but for now, please find the time (and your spare change) to order a copy of Linda’s first novella, All Good Stories. Thank you.

  15. I agree with the other commenter. Make the PayPal button so people can donate and also make your book $7! Sure less people will buy it, but those that want to show support, true support, can! People will pay the worth of the book, even at a price tag.

    • I really have a hard time justifying asking for money. Yes, I know I give back to the community, but that is reward in itself.
      …okay, I’ll think about it.
As for putting the price of my book up, the entire endeavour is to get my name out and perpetuate sales on my next book. The price can’t change. Having said that, I agree we, all of us indie writers, undervalue our work. I figured out that having worked on my next book for five years, I’ll have to sell something like a million copies to make $1/hour. It sucks, but there it is.
I truly appreciate your support, my friend. 🙂

  19. Reblogged and pointed out your book costs less than a Starbuck’s coffee but the enjoyment of your book lasts a whole lot longer.
    Good luck!
Let us know how it goes. I’m hoping you more than met the goal, and Amazon has to pay more than $100 in royalties.

Help a great writer and a good person caught in a tight spot. You won’t regret your .99. A Starbuck’s espresso Frappuccino with whipped cream will cost you four times more and the enjoyment won’t last as long as having Linda’s book!
