Take a deep breath. Time to really get into this whole A to Z business.
When I opened my thesaurus to find my “B” word, I saw “breather” and thought HA! An easy one. But like many words, the more I think about it, the more complex it seems. Of course, it’s “one who breathes.” Then there’s the rather unflattering term, “mouthbreather,” which according to the Urban Dictionary means “a stupid person.” I’ve been a bit of a mouth breather of late, but it’s to do with my cold… You know, stuffed up nose and all that.
But mostly the word “breather” is known as a noun to mean “a break.” Relax. Take a breather. In my thesaurus it says it’s a synonym for “constitutional” and “walk,” as well. In which case it could be thought of as a heavy-breather, depending on the shape one is in.

Speaking of heavy-breathers, do they still do that anymore? I remember it was a big thing in the 70s – you’d pick up the phone and on the other end there’d be someone just breathing heavily. I suppose prank calls pretty much went out the window with caller ID. One day I’ll be able to ask “Is your fridge running? Yes? Better go catch it!” and nobody will know where it came from.
“Breather” is one of those words that, when I think about it too much, stops making sense. Or in this case, I think it makes too much sense. Relax. Take a breath.
Phew! I need a rest. 😉

Wonder if there will ever be a cure for the common cold. When you have it, doesn’t feel very common.🤒😷🤧

You’re right! I somehow doubt there will ever be a cure. Viruses are finding ways to cheat our drugs all the time. 😛

I know everyone hates having a cold, but I especially hate it because I like to breathe through my nose. When I can’t, it drives me nuts.
I am working on yoga as a way to get the breather thing improved.
Hope you got one, but seems like a month such as this one, with A to Z makes that difficult.

This was great! Thanks for the morning laugh. I’ve had my hygienist ask me if I am a mouth breather. I told her not during the day and I don’t know if I am at night. It’s not like I can check that myself. Hubby says I snore, so it seems I am a mouth breather. Plus I had a sleep study done and it confirmed that I do snore. Dry mouth is a symptom you are a mouth breather.

I know I snore – I’ve woken myself up. Luckily for everyone on the planet, I sleep alone. 😛 …with a glass of water beside my bed. 🙂
Happy I was able to provide you with a laugh. 🙂

So son and I were discussing the yesterday things we find hard to do at times, simply because we kinda forget we are supposed to do them. Breathing came up. We forget right.

Breathing is best done when I’m alone in the house. Ahh. Did I mention the girls’ break ended today? Yes. I’m breathing so well, I can even spare a bit for you and your cold 🙂 Look how no one is layin on me… Ahh.

Haha! Thanks, Joey. I think you just unclogged a nostril. 😀 😀
Yeah, not having anyone lay on you makes it much easier to breathe.

Haha, I took a three month breather from writing. Come to think of it, I’ve taken a breather from reading a textbook that I’m supposed to be reading right now! Haha, typical. Honestly, I feel like my breathers all came too close together and have now resulted in me mastering the skill that is: Procrastination.
It’s good reading your work again Linda!

Hey, Ainsworth! I’ve missed you!
Yes, procrastination is a bear, isn’t it? Once it gets comfortable, it tends to hibernate on you.
Thanks very much for your well wishes. I hope this means you’re back! 😀

Hey Linda, and yes Procrastination is really a nuisance. When you let it fester for too long, it becomes quite difficult to get a handle on it. And I guess I am back, I wrote a post last week and I plan on writing another one very soon 😊😊😊

OR, “take a breather” might bring up new ideas. I remember a WordPress prompt was “Breathing Room” not long ago.

The heavy breather … this might have been replaced by the new online equivalent – the unsolicited photo of a person’s, ummm, junk.
