I’ve named my resident spider Mildred.
Here’s a thumbnail you can not click on if you don’t want to see her REALLY up close. Note: the messy wall is covered in stains that don’t come off—my 80 year old house boasts its original kitchen. Primo tin for scale (and because Mildred’s web is attached to it).
If you would like to participate in this prompt, feel free to use the “One-Liner Wednesday” title in your post, and if you do, you can ping back here to help your blog get more exposure. To execute a pingback, just copy the URL in the address bar on this post, and paste it somewhere in the body of your post. Your link will show up in the comments below. Please ensure that the One-Liner Wednesday you’re pinging back to is this week’s! Otherwise, no one will likely see it but me.
NOTE: Pingbacks only work from WordPress sites. If you’re self-hosted or are participating from another host, please leave a link to your post in the comments below.
As with Stream of Consciousness Saturday (SoCS), if you see a pingback from someone else in my comment section, click and have a read. It’s bound to be short and sweet.
Unlike SoCS, this is not a prompt so there’s no need to stick to the same “theme.”
The rules that I’ve made for myself (but don’t always follow) for “One-Liner Wednesday” are:
1. Make it one sentence.
2. Try to make it either funny or inspirational.
3. Use our unique tag #1linerWeds.
4. Add our lovely badge to your post for extra exposure!
5. Have fun!

Love that you named your spider! And the patina of baseboards, doors and trim in vintage houses is priceless: oh, the stories they could tell. I’m in a circa 1992 house now but I still miss my tiny 1918 cottage. Bless those stains!

Mildred is a perfect name for a spider. It was my grandmother’s name, and yes, I still say it is a perfect spider name. (There are about 100 blog posts to unpack in that statement, and a good amount of therapy! 🙂 … TMI?) I had a bathroom spider last year, a different species, that I cleaned around, talked to, and encouraged it to have meals. One day it was just gone, after having been there a long, long time. I miss it!

They do tend to disappear without a trace. Mildred isn’t my first by a long shot.
And yeah, my grandmother should have been a “Mildred” too. 😛

I love that you have named your spider. When my son was staying here recently he claimed to have seen a “big” spider in the bedroom. It has remained elusive to me. Maybe I’ll call it Elsie.

Mildred is the perfect name. I’m also a huge fan of choosing the thumbnail because I can choose whether or not to say hi to Mildred up close and personal. 😁

Yeah, I understand not everyone likes to see spiders. 😀 That was me when I was younger.

Oh, that’s really a mild red spider, Linda! Yesterday, I had a butterfly come to my house.

Ooh, I’ve never had a butterfly inside the house. Plenty of moths though.

Moths are like butterflies but smaller and appear at night. I hope they don’t come again.
