Hey, Geek Squad, give Linda G. a new laptop

Team Pepper (aka Team AWESOME) captain Mr. Mark has been kind enough to conduct a social media experiment on my behalf, to get Best Buy’s attention. Check out his post and let’s see how far this can go.
THANK YOU, MR. MARK!!!

I think Linda G. Hill deserves a brand new laptop from her local Geek Squad.

Do you want to become part of a grand blogging/social media experiment with me today?

Reblog. Share. See how far we can get this statement out, out, out.

Here’s the back story, as I was reminded by Nano Poblano teammate Linda G’s post Friday.

(From geeksquad.com) (From geeksquad.com)

She took her broken laptop to her Geek Squad reps with a battery problem half a year ago. The battery they ordered just came in. It was the wrong battery. They want her to wait around some more.

She wondered in her little story why they don’t give her a new laptop. Take a look at the happy Geek Squad agents in the logo I culled directly from their site above? Don’t they look like they might get on the phone, call headquarters, and get the OK to…

Clever Mathematics ;)

Come over to Ann’s Corner and read a clever post!

annj49's avatarAnn's Corner

From an email I received. I rather like ending thought šŸ˜‰

CLEVER MATHEMATICS

A farmer died leaving his 17 horses to his 3 sons.

When his sons opened up the Will it read:

My eldest son should get 1/2 (half) of total horses;

My middle son should be given 1/3rd (one-third) of the total horses;

My youngest son should be given 1/9th (one-ninth) of the total horses.

As it’s impossible to divide 17 into half or 17 by 3 or 17 by 9, the three sons started to fight with each other.

So, they decided to go to a farmer’s friend who they considered quite smart, to see if he could work it out for them.

The farmer friend read the Will patiently, after giving due thought, he brought one of his own horses over and added it to the 17. That increased the total to 18 horses.

Now, he…

The Culture of Now: Microwaves, Instant Messaging, and . . . Lawyers?

What is instant gratification doing to our future generation of professionals? Read this fascinating post and weigh in with your opinion! Note: Comments are disabled here. Please comment on the original post.

I’ve heard that we millennials are a part of the ā€œmicrowave generation.ā€ We tend to tap our impatient fingers against the kitchen counter while we are waiting for a TV dinner to finish its two minutes and thirty seconds of cooking. We’re a generation of convenience, but we’ve experienced the best of both worlds.

We’ve seen people who took years to build a music career, but we’ve also seen overnight YouTube sensations. We’ve experienced everything from letter writing to email to instant messaging. We’ve experienced both dial up and broadband Internet. We might not have as much patience as the generations before us, but in defense of millennials everywhere I must say that we do have at least some form of patience. What concerns me is the instant gratification culture of the upcoming generation.

Now before you exit my page, please understand that I am not bashing a generation. (I…

It’s promotion time! Pick up Steve Vernon’s latest giveaway today and see why you need to buy everything he has to offer!

Steve Vernon's avatarYOURS IN STORYTELLING...

Okay – so as some of you folks know I’ve been working hard on trying to unlock the secrets of creating a successful Kindle freebie release.

I’ve wrote a bit about it HERE and HERE and – if you scroll down through my blog entries you’ll doubtless find a few more examples. I have been doing my darnedest to figure out what mystical techniques you must use to create a successful Kindle freebie release.

I’ve met with some success – but today I thought I would set up a test case to see how NOT to promote a Kindle freebie release.

I’ve set my Northern Ontario set, redneck noir novella – HAMMURABI ROAD – on for FREE today.

Go ahead and click this picture if you want to upload this book as a freebie from Amazon.com Go ahead and click this picture if you want to upload this book as a freebie from Amazon.com

Stories!

Short fiction collection on sale now!

MishaBurnett's avatarmishaburnett

FCoverNewThumb

First, Fauxpocalypse is on sale–for the next three days it’s only 99 cents. Ā It’s a collection of short stories about what happens when the end of the world is predicted and then doesn’t happen.

I have a story (well, a story and a prologue) in it. Ā It was my idea originally, but a number of very talented writers found their own stories to tell in my world.

It’s a mixed bag of stories, some funny, some sad, but all, I think, thought-provoking.

sinsofthepastbookcoverNext, I have a story in the upcoming Sins Of The Past collection. Ā I’ve read through it, and it’s an interesting collection of horror stories set in various historical periods.

My own contribution is about a film director in the 1960’s, and it contains references to The Book Of Lost Doors. Ā You don’t have to be familiar with my novels to understand the story, but I think it’s…

CannibalSmall Click To Buy!

To celebrate my launching of The Worms Of Heaven I am putting Catskinner’s Book and Cannibal Hearts on sale for 99 cents each this week. Ā In addition Catskinner’s Book will be featured on EReader News Today tomorrow, Wednesday the 3rd.

So we’ll see how this works. Ā I don’t often ask for reblogs, but I would appreciate it if you would see fit to help me spread the news. Ā With my third James &Ā Catskinner novel I feel that I have an actual body of work.

Worms of Heaven by Misha Burnett Click To Buy!

I did what I set out to do, which is to create a new mythos, new monsters, new magic, a cosmology based on some fairly outre sources andĀ my own imagination. Ā It’s been hard to get any traction since the world in my books is difficult to explain–I can’t really say that it’s ā€œjust likeā€ anything else out…

Grin-worthy Reviews…

Here’s a post that had me grinning! If you haven’t already met Steve, you certainly should take the opportunity now.

Steve Vernon's avatarYOURS IN STORYTELLING...

All right.

First off, let me tell you that writers LOVE to read reviews. Especially good ones. You have to understand that this is a business where you spend the majority of your time whispering to yourself in front of a computer screen.

All right, so some of you DON’T whisper to yourself – but I guarantee that you do your best writing all on your lonesome – thinking – REALLY LOUDLY – to yourself.

šŸ™‚

When I read a review I can picture somebody sitting on their favorite chair or on their back deck or on the bus or in the bathtub and reading my words – whispering to themselves the whole way through – and grinning.

It’s the grinning part that I like the best.

Let’s face it.

At the end of the day the thing that people remember the most about you is how you make them…
