First, I’d like to say hi and welcome to my new followers. I appreciate your interest in my blog, and I promise to come and visit all of yours the moment I have a chance. I’ll put a few pertinent links in this post so you can keep up with the rest of the class. Here we go.
I have no clue why I posted not one, but TWO one-liners today. Okay, I do have an idea – WordPress wouldn’t let me not schedule the one I had scheduled, and when I tried to change it to next week I must have messed up. If you haven’t read them both, you probably should. Each have links to other people’s one-liners. There are some great ones this week!
Then this afternoon I was contemplating life and dreams and things when I came up with a great concept for a new novel! Only I’m not going to have time to write it. Editing is slow-going these days, even though I’ve been working on it every spare minute I have to sit quietly. Only 50 pages to go out of 524. 😀
I’m still searching for the perfect sleeping companion. I’ve tried a few but none have worked out. I can tell you, it’s frustrating having a different one every night of the week and never finding the satisfaction I was hoping for!
My doctor’s appointment went… okay. She’s going to get the records from my old doctor’s office to see what my x-ray and ultrasound from last May said about my right shoulder, but she doesn’t want to give me any exercises to do until she knows. The last idiot doctor said, “Just stretch.” He also said it was arthritis, but the symptoms don’t fit. So I have to wait for another month before I get any results.
On top of that now, I had a hellish weekend with Alex and had to move all the furniture except his bed out of his room, by myself, because he was smashing it and putting dents in the walls. Mostly, I didn’t want him to hurt himself. So what happened? I hurt the other shoulder.
BUT, I had this weekend to look forward to. The kids were going to go to their dad’s… but wait! He’s sick and so are the rest of his family! So no break. He offered to take them anyway, but with the new super-bug that’s going around, I don’t need to take the chance that Alex will end up in hospital like when he had H1N1… or when he had pneumonia… or RSV… or bronchiolitis… or… you get the picture. I did however manage to wrangle some hours out of my eldest son for Sunday so I can do the backstage tour of the National Arts Centre in Ottawa. I’ll take pictures!
And speaking of pictures, it was Alex’s picture day at school on Monday. He looked so dapper I couldn’t wait for the official photos. This was taken before school.
He came home, however, with his shirt untucked and done up one button off, and the knot on his tie reaching his breastbone looking much like a drunken businessman.
Kids. 🙄
So that’s been my week. How ’bout yours?

Alex is adorable! On another note, NOMB, but maybe you need to clarify about your nightly search for a sleeping companion?

Thank you, Barb. 😀
The “sleeping companion” comment doesn’t make a lot of sense now, but if you’d read this when it was current, you’d probably have also read this, which was posted six days before: https://lindaghill.com/2014/09/18/wanted-sleeping-companion/ It explains everything. 🙂

Shame on me. I didn’t even look at the date at the top of this post, I just assumed it was current. I hope your shoulder problems didn’t last too long and the teddy bear helped.

Thanks, Barb. It’s pretty much cleared up now. It got steadily worse until it froze, but then I went for a cortisone shot in April (I think) last year, and it got better within a couple of weeks. 🙂

I can relate. I had a fall in a parking lot that injured my neck, resulting in pain in my left shoulder, arm and numbness in my first three fingers. I went through 16 months of chiropractic, physical rehab, and epidural injections before I was finally referred to a neurosurgeon. Surgery resolved the issue finally.

Wow. Shoulder pain really is no fun. Glad they were able to fix it for you.

You know I have been having issues with a sore left arm lately and sometimes it radiates down to my elbow or up to my shoulder. I’ve had it for weeks and it is worse if I sleep on that side. A friend of mine suggested that I speak to my doctor about Bursitis (although I haven’t yet). Maybe that could be your issue as well? Just a thought.
Oddly enough, when we were away last week I couldn’t use the two pillows supplied at the motel (too hard and high) so I slept with one under my head and the other cuddled against me. And when I rolled over, I used it to support my left arm as well. It really helped.
I hope you find something that works for you soon.

That is a fantastic photo. What a handsome boy he is! Did he put on formal clothing with no fuss at all? Mine are super picky over clothing.

Thank you! Yes, he loves dressing up – it was like Christmas for him when I bought the outfit for him and he was SO excited to wear it. I guess I could say mine’s picky too – just not in the same way yours are by the sounds of it. 🙂

Maybe I had better show his pic and other pics of kids in formal clothes to mine, so they can get some exposure and some motivation. I would be so pleased if they could get accustomed to it, I think dressing up is important for kids. They just hate how everything feels if it is not cotton and elastic!

I’ve been busy, too, but mostly in happy ways.
Alex is totally adorable, love the purple tie! He looks like he’s a happy shiny people kinda guy — when he’s not wreakin havoc on his furniture, I guess.
I hope your shoulder situation gets worked out, and that your weekend brings you unexpected pleasures — maybe even the perfect sleeping companion 🙂

Sounds like a typical week in your house…one thing to the next and no room to breathe, huh? Super handsome lad there though…..can’t complain too much! Anxiously awaiting doc’s verdict on the shoulder!

Thanks very much! Yep, it’s been a pretty typical week. And I may try to hurry up that verdict. It’s been way too long already.

Sounds like quite the week. Looking forward to the pictures from the backstage visit 🙂 Mine week’s been pretty good. Busy with work and all, so not much time to write. And I had a guy ask me out to dinner 🙂 Hoping we can go out soon (trying for this weekend), and it would be nice if things work out for us. I kinda like him, and we both have a love of Ireland in common 🙂

He’s such a cutie! Love how he looks so happy :-). Sorry you won’t get the break you were hoping for the weekend. I would totally help you out if we lived near each other. :-\ (I would have helped you move that furniture too – I’ve had to do that with one or two of my kids too.) I hope your shoulder issue gets taken care of SOON.
