One-Liner Wednesday – An Autumn Goodbye

It’s windy today. Time to say goodbye to the leaves.

If you would like to participate in this prompt, feel free to use the “One-Liner Wednesday” title in your post, and if you do, you can ping back here to help your blog get more exposure. To execute a pingback, just copy the URL in the address bar on this post, and paste it somewhere in the body of your post. Your link will show up in the comments below. Please ensure that the One-Liner Wednesday you’re pinging back to is this week’s! Otherwise, no one will likely see it but me.

NOTE: Pingbacks only work from WordPress sites. If you’re self-hosted or are participating from another host, like Blogger, please leave a link to your post in the comments below.

As with Stream of Consciousness Saturday (SoCS), if you see a pingback from someone else in my comment section, click and have a read. It’s bound to be short and sweet.

Unlike SoCS, this is not a prompt so there’s no need to stick to the same “theme.”

The rules that I’ve made for myself (but don’t always follow) for “One-Liner Wednesday” are:

1. Make it one sentence.

2. Try to make it either funny or inspirational.

3. Use our unique tag #1linerWeds.

4. Add our lovely badge to your post for extra exposure!

5. Have fun!

One-Liner Wednesday – Like a ghost caught on camera

Out walking with Alex the other evening, he spied a rabbit and asked me to take a picture. It’s cute, but I’m more interested in the strange light shining on the house next door. Yes, the sun was going down and that’s a west-facing wall, but the two houses are the same size in depth. Weird.

#SoCS – ‘Sup?

Holy cow, is it really ten to twelve? Where did my Saturday go? I know I spent a lot of it proofreading my book, but there must have been bits in between, because I only got about a hundred pages done.

Most of that time I spent in the car with the windows down, enjoying the breeze off the lake. I did take a little walk when my eyes needed a break. I found this guy, standing on a rock.

If you can’t tell, it’s a heron. Compared to the ducks in the first picture, he’s a biggie.

Let’s see, what else did I do? Oh yeah. About an hour after I finished my McDonald’s coffee, I started to feel icky so I went to Tim Horton’s to pick up a bagel for supper. Then I took it back to the lake and ate it, sitting in the parking lot in my car, beside a Winnebago. Unfortunately I didn’t think of the joke until after I’d finished eating, otherwise I’d have taken a picture of myself beside the other vehicle whilst holding my food. I could have captioned it: Winnebago? No, I bought it.

Get it?

Yeah, it’s been a long day.

‘Sup with you?

One-Liner Wednesday – We have a New Badge! 2018-19 edition

First, I’d like to say one last thank-you to Dan Antion for your wonderful 2017-18 One-Liner Wednesday badge. It has served us well for the past year, and won’t be forgotten.

All together now: Thanks, Dan!

#1linerWeds badge by Dan Antion

I guess you’re wondering who, won, eh?

Not so fast.

In 3rd place we had Connection by Wire by J-Dub. Thank you, Jill! Honorable mention goes to you.

Close behind, in 4th place was Take My Card by John Holton. Cheers, John! You’ve won two of my contests so far (SoCS badge and create-the-hashtag #1linerWeds). Keep trying for number three!

Then all close together in the votes from 5th to 8th place came Blue Sky and Clouds by Hip to be Snark, Shoreline by Frank Hubeny, Don’t say no by Jim Adams, and Giraffes by Myrna in that order. Thanks so much to you all for participating!

But wait, you might be saying. There were nine badges. Why are there only eight places?

We had a tie for second place!!

The two silver medals (virtual silver medals, that is–don’t get your hopes up) go to

The Waving Girl by Melissa

and

Bird on a Post by Bethany K,

which means our new One-Liner Wednesday badge is Peace, Love, and Please by Cheryl!!

Thanks so much to our runners-up, Melissa and Bethany. The race was extremely close!

And congratulations Cheryl!! I look forward to sharing your little guy every week for the next year. ❤ 😀

Thanks again to all who participated. It was fun! ‘Til next May!

Easily one of the best things on the Internet–Thursday Doors

It’s no secret that I adore doors. And I love going for walks, so Norm Frampton’s prompt, Thursday Doors, provides me with the perfect opportunity to take pictures and get some exercise at the same time!

Having said that, it’s been a while since I went out on a good doorscursion, so I’ll show you some photos I took last May of a beautiful house in my neighbourhood. Oh, how I long for green grass again!

Look at all that fantastic ironwork fencing. I wonder if it’s as old as the house.

The pattern of the fence doesn’t match the iron around the upper windows, but either could have been added later. And look at those doors! They remind me of church doors.

Also to note: if you’re able to click on the image to make it bigger, there’s something with ears on the “roof” of the upper middle window. Probably one of those fake owls that are supposed to keep the birds away.

If you’d like to see more doors, check out Norm’s prompt post, and be sure to go out on a doorscursion of your own! https://miscellaneousmusingsofamiddleagedmind.wordpress.com/2018/04/05/thursday-doors-april-5-2018/

#JusJoJan 2018, the 21st – Silence

Ah, silence. It’s something I experience very little of during the day. I’m very quiet most of the time, but there’s always something going on in the next room, cars going by outside, and all the other noise that generally goes on in the background, in a house in a suburban neighbourhood.

Quiet–mainly the lack of motors–is why I love the country. Birds chirping I can handle. Leaves rustling in the breeze and waves lapping the shore are like music to my ears.

I don’t need complete silence. I need nature. Yeah.

This post is brought to you by Just Jot it January, and in particular, prompted by the word “silence,” provided by Willow! Thank you so much, Willow! You can find Willow’s JusJoJan post by clicking right here. Please go and say hi! To participate in the prompt, please visit this post, where you’ll find the rules and you can leave your link in the comments.
