Enter the 6th Annual SoCS Badge Contest!

It’s that time of year again: time to retire our pretty 2018-2019 Stream of Consciousness Saturday badge. We’ve loved Pamela’s badge every week for the last fourteen months. This weekend’s SoCS prompt will end its wonderful reign. Thank you so much, Pamela! Unfortunately, I get a warning when I try to go to her website, so if you’re reading this, Pamela, I hope you can sort us out!

On to the contest! Break out your crayons, boys and girls, because I’ll be taking entries for the next seven days (today included) for our 2019-2020 Stream of Consciousness Saturday badge designs.

Here are the contest guidelines: please read them carefully before entering.

1. The design can be anything you want it to be, but it must include either “Stream of Consciousness Saturday” or “SoCS” and your name and/or the name of your website.

2. Any pictures (art or photo) must be your own.

3. All entries will be posted here on my blog on Thursday October 24th, 2019 along with a poll that will close the next day, on Friday the 25th. I would ask that each of the entrants make a blog post on their own website with their artwork so I can post links for voters to check them out, and that they link their post back HERE in the comment section no later than Wednesday, October 23rd, midnight EDT (GMT -5 hours). No entry posted after that time will qualify. All links included here within the specified timeframe will be added to the voting list.

4. The winner’s badge will be available for anyone who participates in Stream of Consciousness Saturday to post permanently on their website as a widget and/or to embed in each weekly SoCS post.

5. One entry per person. The contest is open to anyone with an active blog, WordPress or otherwise. I reserve the right to disqualify any blogger from the contest who regularly posts material that may be offensive to others, i.e. porn, highly political posts, or blogs that only exist to sell something.

6. Poll results will not be available while the poll is open. If there is a tie, I will choose the winner myself.

7. Entries are restricted to the first ten linked below (just in case we’re bombarded), so get yours in early.

8. If I’ve missed anything, or if you have any questions, please ask in the comment section below.

9. Have fun and best of luck!

Note: The posting of the winning badge with a SoCS post/on a participant’s website will not be a requirement. It’s purely for entertainment/recognition purposes.

All the entries are in! We have what I think is a record number of contestants: thirteen! So get settled in and get ready to choose. If you haven’t seen all the badges entered into the contest, make sure you visit the links and take a look.

Since I can’t put the links themselves in the poll, I’ll name them. So when you find your favourite, remember the name of the badge so you can vote for it.

Here they are in the order they entered the contest:

Anita with Puppy Love

John Holton with Highway

Willow with White Swan

Fandango with Blue Angel Jet Stream

Mamasquirrel with Nutty Squirrel

JoAnna with Pelicans in Flight

Laura with Long Dock

Tessa with Canada Goose

Jill with City Scene

Maggie with Swimming Turtle

Pamela with Unhappy Cat

pensitivity with Black Swans

Melanie with Artsy Pen

Thank you so much to all the contestants! It’s going to be a tough decision!

The poll will be open for 24 hours only, and the results will be hidden until the poll is closed. In case of a tie, I’ll choose the winner.

Vote once, vote carefully, and be sure to tell your friends!

Best of luck to all our fabulous artists!

Get out your art supplies, ladies and gentlemen, because it’s time for a new One-Liner Wednesday badge!

I’m a few weeks late this year (sorry, eh?), so I can’t promise the next badge will stay in circulation for a full 52 weeks, but it’ll be close! All you have to do is follow the guidelines below, and you can be entered into the contest!

Before we get started though, a moment of silence (and peace, and love) for the little friend who has graced our Wednesday pages for the past year and a bit.

#1linerWeds badge by Cheryl, at dreamingreality646941880.wordpress.com/

Thank you so much, Cheryl, for sharing your little friend with us. He’ll always have a special place in my heart. I hope you’ll enter the contest again this year!

This week’s One-Liner Wednesday will be the last one with Cheryl’s badge. Participate and enjoy it while you can!

2. Any pictures (art or photo) must be your own, and they must be family-friendly.

3. When you’re happy with your badge and you’re ready to share it, write a blog post on your own website and link back HERE in the comments, so voters can check it out. The deadline to do this is Sunday, June 9th, 11:59pm EST. All links included here by that time will be added to a poll.

4. All entries will be shared here on my blog on Monday, June 10th, 2019, along with the poll that will close the next day, Tuesday the 11th.

7, Poll results will not be available while the poll is open. If there is a tie, I will choose the winner myself.*

9. Have fun!

*I retain the right to refuse any badge that is distasteful, regardless of the number of votes it receives.

It’s Time for the 5th Annual SoCS Badge Contest – Contest Closed!

It never gets easier, retiring a badge. It’s a decision I deal with every year. But alas, it’s that time once again.

Our lovely 2017-2018 Stream of Consciousness Saturday badge by Jill, aka J-Dub, has served us well. I’ll be sad to see it go. This weekend will see its final sharing.

But perhaps she’ll enter the contest again! Either way, thank you for your year’s worth of beauty to grace our SoCS posts, Jill!

And now the excitement begins. I’ll be taking entries for the next seven days (today included) for Stream of Consciousness Saturday badge designs.

Here are the contest guidelines: please read them carefully before entering:

1. The design can be anything you want it to be, but it must include either “Stream of Consciousness Saturday” or “SoCS” and your name and/or the name of your website.

2. Any pictures (art or photo) must be your own.

3. All entries will be posted here on my blog on Thursday August 23rd, 2018, along with a poll that will close the next day, on Friday the 24th. I would ask that each of the entrants make a blog post on their own website with their artwork so I can post links for voters to check them out, and that they link their post back HERE in the comment section no later than Wednesday, August 22nd, midnight EDT (GMT -5 hours). One-Liner Wednesday – Time for a New Badge!

Well, it’s that time of year again. Out with the old (but very well-loved!) and in with the new. Badge, that is.

And we have loved Dan Antion’s badge, haven’t we?

#1linerWeds badge by Dan Antion

Yes, we certainly have. Thank you one last time, Dan, for your lovely handiwork. ❤ Tomorrow will be our last One-Liner Wednesday with Dan’s badge.

For sure I am sad,

but there’s excitement to be had.

Because it’s time for a contest!! Would you like your badge to be shared every week for the next year by bloggers far and wide? Great! All you have to do is design it by Sunday night!

And hey, perhaps Dan will enter the contest again this year! It’s open to anyone with a blog.

Here are the guidelines for entry into the contest:

1. The design can be anything you want it to be, but it must include “One-Liner Wednesday” and your name and/or the name of your website.

2. Any pictures (art or photo) must be your own.

3. When you’re happy with your badge and you’re ready to share it, write a blog post on your own website and link back HERE in the comments, so voters can check it out. The deadline to do this is Sunday, May 20th, 11:59pm EST. All links included here by that time will be added to a poll.

4. All entries will be shared here on my blog on Monday, May 21st, 2018, along with the poll that will close the next day, Tuesday the 22nd.

5. The winner’s badge will be available for anyone who participates in One-Liner Wednesday to post permanently on their website as a widget and/or to embed in their weekly One-Liner Wednesday post.

6. One entry per person. The contest is open to anyone with an active blog, WordPress or otherwise (see #3 for entry requirements).

8. If I’ve missed anything, or if you have any questions, please ask in the comment section below.

9. Have fun!

So that’s it. Get out your paintbrushes and coloured pencils, your cameras, or whatever you generally art with and art away!

*I retain the right to refuse any badge that is distasteful, regardless of the number of votes it receives.

WE HAVE A WINNER! 2017-2018 SoCS Badge Contest

First, I’d like to give a special mention to our out-going Stream of Consciousness Saturday badge by Mr. John Holton. As it turned out, he has the distinct honour of coming in last-place this year, perfectly balancing out his spectacular win for the 2016-2017 badge. Thank you John, for providing us with a lovely design. Let’s everyone applaud John!

John Holton 2016-2017

It was a close race this year, with one badge pulling out in front during the final hours of yesterday’s voting. Let’s start with the runners-up.

Almost tied for fourth place were Ruth’s “Zoomburst Flower” and Scott’s “Rushing Stream.”

In third, we had Judy with her last-minute entry, “Sunrise.”

In second …

was JoAnna’s “Sparkly Stream,” which means our winner with 38% of the votes goes to J-Dubs with “A River with Red Flowers”!!

Congratulations to all the contestants on your amazing efforts. Thank you for making this years’ Stream of Consciousness Saturday badge contest a success!

And huge congratulations to J-Dubs for the winning design!

It’s A Winner!

For most of the day yesterday the race for our new Stream of Consciousness Saturday badge was a close one. When I posted last night’s reminder, Willow’s “Wildflowers,” JoAnna’s “Rocks and Water,” and John’s “Digital Sky” were neck in neck for the lead. Trailing not far behind were Helen’s “Fast-Moving Stream,” Deborah’s “Firework Fantasy,” Dale’s “Thoughts,” and “ KG’s “Long and Winding Road” in that order.

Then I posted my reminder to vote and one badge took off! Though most of the other badges gained votes, the winner became clear. By a landslide, with 38% of the votes, the winner is…

Oh wait. I should take a moment to honour our outgoing badge. Thank you for serving us so well for the past year. And here’s hoping our friend “Hope Floats” returns to WordPress soon! We miss you!

SoCS badge 2015

So now, without further ado…

except for a drum roll…

of course…

our new SoCS badge is brought to you by…

John Holton!!

John Holton!!

Congratulations, John!

The two runners up were JoAnna with 22% of the votes and Willow with 16%.

Thanks so much to all our lovely contestants for your amazing efforts. And congratulations to all for entering!
