WE HAVE A WINNER! 2017-2018 SoCS Badge Contest

First, I’d like to give a special mention to our out-going Stream of Consciousness Saturday badge by Mr. John Holton. As it turned out, he has the distinct honour of coming in last-place this year, perfectly balancing out his spectacular win for the 2016-2017 badge. Thank you John, for providing us with a lovely design. Let’s everyone applaud John!

John Holton 2016-2017

It was a close race this year, with one badge pulling out in front during the final hours of yesterday’s voting. Let’s start with the runners-up.

Almost tied for fourth place were Ruth’s “Zoomburst Flower” and Scott’s “Rushing Stream.”

In third, we had Judy with her last-minute entry, “Sunrise.”

In second …

was JoAnna’s “Sparkly Stream,” which means our winner with 38% of the votes goes to J-Dubs with “A River with Red Flowers”!!

Congratulations to all the contestants on your amazing efforts. Thank you for making this years’ Stream of Consciousness Saturday badge contest a success!

And huge congratulations to J-Dubs for the winning design!

The 4th Annual SoCS Badge Design Contest

After much deliberation, I’ve decided to hold the Stream of Consciousness Saturday Badge Contest for the fourth year in a row. Our current badge by John Holton may be up for the vote again this year,

John Holton 2016-2017

or he may decide to grace us with another design. We shall see!

I’ll be taking entries for the next nine days (today included) for Stream of Consciousness Saturday badge designs.

I’ve added a few things to the guidelines this year, so make sure you read them carefully before entering:

1. The design can be anything you want it to be, but it must include either “Stream of Consciousness Saturday” or “SoCS” and your name and/or the name of your website.

2. Any pictures (art or photo) must be your own.

3. All entries will be posted here on my blog on Thursday August 17th, 2017, along with a poll that will close the next day, on Friday the 18th. I would ask that each of the entrants make a blog post on their own website with their artwork so that I can post links for voters to check them out, and that they link their post back HERE in the comment section no later than Wednesday August 16th, midnight EDT (GMT -5 hours). No entry posted after that time will qualify. All links included here within the specified timeframe will be added to the voting list.

4. The winner’s badge will be available for anyone who participates in Stream of Consciousness Saturday to post permanently on their website as a widget and/or to embed in each weekly SoCS post.

5. One entry per person. The contest is open to anyone with an active blog, WordPress or otherwise (see #3 for entry requirements). I reserve the right to disqualify any blogger from the contest who regularly posts material that may be offensive to others, i.e. porn, highly political posts, or blogs that only exist to sell something.

6. Poll results will not be available while the poll is open. If there is a tie, I will choose the winner myself.

7. Entries are restricted to the first ten linked below (just in case we’re bombarded), so get yours in early.

8. If I’ve missed anything, or if you have any questions, please ask in the comment section below.

9. Have fun and best of luck!

Note: The posting of the winning badge with a SoCS post/on a participant’s website will not be a requirement. It’s purely for entertainment/recognition purposes.

It’s A Winner!

For most of the day yesterday the race for our new Stream of Consciousness Saturday badge was a close one. When I posted last night’s reminder, Willow’s “Wildflowers,” JoAnna’s “Rocks and Water,” and John’s “Digital Sky” were neck in neck for the lead. Trailing not far behind were Helen’s “Fast-Moving Stream,” Deborah’s “Firework Fantasy,” Dale’s “Thoughts,” and “ KG’s “Long and Winding Road” in that order.

Then I posted my reminder to vote and one badge took off! Though most of the other badges gained votes, the winner became clear. By a landslide, with 38% of the votes, the winner is…

Oh wait. I should take a moment to honour our outgoing badge. Thank you for serving us so well for the past year. And here’s hoping our friend “Hope Floats” returns to WordPress soon! We miss you!

So now, without further ado…

except for a drum roll…

of course…

our new SoCS badge is brought to you by…

Congratulations, John!

The two runners up were JoAnna with 22% of the votes and Willow with 16%.

Thanks so much to all our lovely contestants for your amazing efforts. And congratulations to all for entering!

It’s the 3rd Annual SoCS Badge Design Contest!

It’s that time of year again – time for the Stream of Consciousness Saturday Badge Contest! A year ago this month we voted on this beautiful badge:

SoCS badge 2015

to represent us every week. I made the difficult decision to have an annual contest two years ago, when the great Doobster left us. Here is his badge:

Badge by: Doobster at Mindful Digressions

And now, it seems we’ve lost another badge-maker. Yes, our lovely friend at Hope Floats has made her website private. But fear not! She’s alive and well. I texted her a few days ago to make sure. Hopefully we’ll get together soon for coffee and I’ll find out if she’s planning to return to blogland.

So we move forward once again. Last year’s badge is going to be a tough one to beat, but I have confidence in all of you to come up with something spectacular! Here we go:

I’ll be taking entries for the next seven days (today included) for Stream of Consciousness Saturday badge designs. Here are the guidelines:

1. The design can be anything you want it to be but it must include either “Stream of Consciousness Saturday” or “SoCS” and your name and/or the name of your website.

2. Any pictures (art or photo) must be your own.

3. All entries will be posted here on my blog on Thursday August 11th, 2016, along with a poll that will close the next day, on Friday the 12th. I would ask that each of the entrants make a blog post on their own website with their artwork so that I can post links for voters to check them out, and that they link their post back HERE in the comment section no later than Wednesday August 10th, midnight EDT (GMT -5 hours). All links included here will be added to the voting list.

4. The winner’s badge will be available for anyone who participates in Stream of Consciousness Saturday to post permanently on their website as a widget and/or to embed in each weekly SoCS post.

5. One entry per person. The contest is open to anyone with a blog, WordPress or otherwise (see #3 for entry requirements).

6. Poll results will not be available while the poll is open. If there is a tie, I will choose the winner myself.

7. This year I am restricting the entries to the first ten linked below (just in case we’re bombarded), so get yours in early.

8. If I’ve missed anything, or if you have any questions, please ask in the comment section below.

9. Have fun!

Note: The posting of the winning badge with a SoCS post/on a participant’s website will not be a requirement. It’s purely for entertainment/recognition purposes.
