One-Liner Wednesday – You know you’re tired when…

You know you’re tired when you’re searching the floor on the right side of the couch for the water bottle that’s in your left hand.

If you would like to participate in this prompt, feel free to use the “One-Liner Wednesday” title in your post, and if you do, you can ping back here to help your blog get more exposure. As with Stream of Consciousness Saturday (SoCS), if you see a pingback from someone else in my comment section, click and have a read. It’s bound to be short and sweet.

Unlike SoCS, this is not a prompt so there’s no need to stick to the same “theme.”

The rules that I’ve made for myself (but don’t always follow) for “One-Liner Wednesday” are:

1. Make it one sentence.

2. Try to make it either funny or inspirational.

One-Liner Wednesday – Best I can do

Spent the night in the emergency room with Alex Monday night into Tuesday and as of the writing of this Tuesday afternoon, I’ve been awake 30 hours … and that’s your one-liner this week.

P.S. He’ll be okay in a few days (fingers crossed), but now I think I’m sick too. 🙄

What Day is it Anyway? February 8, 2024

Yep. It’s back.

Actually, I needed a What Day is it Anyway? yesterday.

I made such a bonehead move.

On Tuesday, I had to get up at 5am to start my son Alex’s tube feeding so I could make it out the door for a dentist appointment by 10.

Yesterday, I forgot to turn off the alarm, so it rang again at 5.

And I trusted it.

I dragged myself into a sitting position, put on my robe and slippers, and trudged down the stairs to get Alex’s feed started.

It was only when I was pulling the containers of formula out of the case when I thought …

What am I doing?

Am I going somewhere today? Is Alex?

Noooo!

So I put the formula back and trudged back up the stairs.

On my way back to bed, I checked on Alex. He woke up.

“What time is it?” he asked in sign language.

“It’s 5:00,” I replied.

“What are you doing?”

“I don’t know,” I said with a shake of my head. “Go back to sleep. I’ll explain later.”

I trudged back to my room, took off my robe and slippers, and went back to bed.

When I told Alex what happened yesterday, he laughed and laughed.

Bonehead Mom.

JusJoJan24 the 30th – My eyes!

This post is the last of my regular Just Jot it January 2024 efforts, and it’s an effort…

When I chose the word “calendar” for today’s prompt, there was no way I could have anticipated how I was going to use it.

Although, I think I’ve been here before now … at least once.

Where is here?

Here is sleep deprived. Here is a mother who stayed up all night last night with her son in the emergency room. You’ve heard this song before, right?

Anyhoo, he wasn’t admitted to hospital this time, and we were in and out of there in just ten short hours! That might be close to a record.

BUT! It did mean I missed something important. To me, at least.

I made an appointment to get my eyes checked in December—the appointment was for January 11th. A few days before that, the office called and told me the doctor wouldn’t be in, so she gave me another appointment. Guess for when?

So I called this morning from the emergency room to let them know I had to cancel the appointment this time.

I have another scheduled for February 15th. Three times lucky.

But oh, my poor wall calendar and all the covered up appointments!

This exhausted post is part of Just Jot it January! Want to join in? Just click here to get to the prompt and drop your link. It’s fun!

Thank you so much to everyone who joined in!

One-Liner Wednesday – I’ve got the power

Apparently all the electricity in the world isn’t enough to power the brain inside my head enough to remember to schedule a post.

#SoCS – A Brush with Good Health

It’s been a while since I last had a brush with good health. You know, one of those rare moments when nothing hurts? Anyone over 50? I’m talking to you.

My latest what-I’m-calling-stress-related ailment is tinnitus. As I sit here, it’s shrieking in my ears. Driving me to absolute distraction. I had it yesterday too. Today, I noticed it only when I thought of it, which kinda tells me that it’s likely all in my head.

Yeah, yeah, I know. It’s in my ears so obviously it’s all in my head.

But getting this post written was stressing me out, so it’s back … I understand, though, that the antacid meds the doctor gave me for heartburn could have caused it in the first place. Crazy, eh? So if you’re taking a new medication and you suddenly start to get tinnitus? Check out the side effects of the medication.

And that’s my PSA for the day.

No walk for us today. It’s been hot again and will be for the foreseeable future, and I didn’t wake up until 10am this morning. I must have needed the sleep. Surprisingly, I’m exhausted now. And it’s only 1:24am.

I must need more exercise.

Yep, I’m afraid I’m done for the night. Hope you’re having a good one.

What Day is it Anyway? #SoCS Edition Saturday, July 4th, 2020

Today has been less of a day and more of an ordeal. Just getting through the heat.

I can’t brain.

Decisions all went out the window. Or would have if I’d opened them.

All the toss-ups in my life feel life and death.

Like what I was going to have for dinner. (I managed a microwaved TV dinner.)

Cookies or crackers?

Water or … water? (There’s nothing else to drink except tea and coffee. And I don’t do cold tea and coffee. Bleh.)

Half my problem all day has been lack of sleep. I turned out my light last night after 2am and tossed and turned for about an hour. Woke up at 5:55 and thought, I can go back to sleep or I can go out for a walk with Alex. Because we both need the exercise, we went for a walk. I put in 5K steps before 7am. On three hours of sleep.

My bedroom, where I work, was 90 F all day.

I still can’t brain.

Bleh.

P.S. Hope everyone south of the border had a happy 4th of July!

What Day is it Anyway? #SoCS Edition Saturday, June 20th, 2020

Well, the world is still going to hell in a handbasket. I wanted to write a couple of times in the past couple of days, but Alex has been bored and I’ve been trying to edit (and failing) and I really just want to give up lately. I’m so tired.

Tired of looking after the kids 24/7 for the last year (aside from a weekend in September when I went away … with a horrible cold).

Tired of looking for time I don’t have.

Tired of living in this tiny bubble between my house and the grocery store, and occasional walks around the block.

Tired of not doing a damned thing for myself for more than an hour or two at a time.

Tired of complaining, damn it!

It’s one o’clock.

I need to do this earlier next week.

Now, I need some zzzzzz…
